HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 03-20 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes March 20, 2007 PRESENT: Mike Meyer, Shelley Klaessy, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg, Councilmember Mary O’Connor, Cathy Ballot, Kathleen Carmody and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Karen Youngberg said the word councilmember should be removed before Nancy’s name in the February 20 minutes. There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the February 20, 2007 meeting with one correction. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT : The balance in checking is $16,250.17. There was a motion by Councilmember Shelley Klaessy, seconded by Mike Meyer to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Cathy Ballot will put some of the money into a CD. There was a motion by Shelley Klaessy, seconded by Cathy Ballot to pay the $46.80 postage bill to the City of Brooklyn Center. Motion carried. CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO: The letters to crafters are out. Sue LaCrosse needs some ideas for getting information out to commercial exhibitors. The food vendor applications will out this week. BINGO : No report. BUDGET/FINANCE: Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget spreadsheet. We need to raise approximately $7,000 to keep our reserve at about $16,000 for next year. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: No report. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Shelley Klaessy said they will probably get the Teddy Bear Band. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: Sue LaCrosse will check with Phil Cohen about contacting the police chief. MUSIC/FIREWORKS: No report. PARADE: Mike Meyer said they have had meetings. The letters have gone out. Sue LaCrosse we have gotten a few back. She will send out notice to Sarah at the Sun Post. PHOTOGRAPHER: No report. PUBLICITY: Sue LaCrosse asked Mike Meyer if he would be interested in doing the Cable 12 interview. He said he would. RADIO DISNEY: No report. SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT: No report. 1 TRIVIA CONTEST: Kathleen Carmody had a concern about the prize money because the entry fee was going to be reduced. Sue LaCrosse said she added the event to the sponsorship business letters. We may get a donation for it. At this time, the amount of prize money will not be advertised. OTHER EVENTS: The 5K Run/Walk and the Family Walk will start in Central Park. The walk will go around Central Park and the 5K will go through Central Park around Palmer Lake. The pancake breakfast is still a go. NEW BUSINESS: Karen Youngberg said Diane Sannes, Friends of the Library has reserved one of the library showcases for Earle Brown Days. Karen Youngberg will work with her to make up a display. NEXT MEETING: Council/Commission Conference Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
