HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 09-18 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes September 18, 2007 PRESENT: Councilmember Mary O’Connor, Cathy Ballot, Shelley Klaessy, Karen Youngberg, Mike Meyer, Kathleen Carmody, and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a correction to the minutes of July 17, 2007. After the motion from Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the Treasurer’s Report, motion carried should be added. The approval of the payment of the bills should come after the list of bills to pay. There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Shelley Klaessy to approve the minutes with these corrections. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT: Cathy Ballot reported 2,325.51 in checking and $15,080.75 in a CD with a total of $17,406.26. There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF BOARD MEMBER TERMS: There was a motion by Councilmember Mary O’Connor, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the following board terms: Kathleen Carmody - 3 year term; Karen Youngberg - 3 year term; Nancy Doucette - 1 year term; Phil Cohen - 1 year term; Shane Mason - 1 year term; Joy Reinhart - 3 year term; Sue LaCrosse - 3 year term. Motion carried. Karen Youngberg hopes to visit the Women’s and Mom’s Clubs to talk about joining our committee. APPROVAL OF 2008 OFFICERS: There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the 2008 officers: Karen Youngberg, Chair; Phil Cohen, Vice-Chair; Cathy Ballot, Treasurer; Sue LaCrosse, Secretary. Motion carried. BINGO : This event is questionable for 2008. BUDGET/FINANCE: The balance for starting next year is $17,906.26. CRAFTS & BUSINESS EXPO: Karen Youngberg reported Joy Reinhart will chair this committee and she and Deb Lester will serve on this committee. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Shane Mason will continue and he will try to recruit someone else to take it over. Kathleen Carmody will be in charge of prizes again. She would like to know if the committee wants her to continue at the same prize level. Sue LaCrosse said it is one of our premier events and even it costs a little more, the value for the dollar is great. Kathleen Carmody would like to know if Rotary could be more involved. Karen Youngberg will make an announcement regarding this. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Shelley Klaessy said it is on. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: Sue LaCrosse said this event will continue. They caught many fish this year. The police chief said the police association would sponsor this event if BrookPark Dental decides they don’t want to. 1 MUSIC/FIREWORKS: Sue LaCrosse will contact Midnight Breeze for next year. PARADE: Mike Meyer said they would like to get some new blood on the committee. They want to expand the committee beyond the Lions Club. Chris Porter from BCHS expressed interest in serving. PUBLICITY: Sue LaCrosse said she also would like to expand this committee. If anyone knows of someone who might be interested, let her know. Mike Meyer said he doesn’t think we should have the Leo Club distribute flyers. He suggested contacting corporate or the manager early. We won’t be inviting Radio Disney back because it did not attract a large audience this year. She already contacted Radio Disney and asked if there was something related to High School Musical. There is nothing now, but if it changes they will contact her. SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT: The senior tournament was a success and will be offered again next year. TRIVIA CONTEST: Kathleen Carmody said yes. OTHER EVENTS: Fun Characters: Sue LaCrosse will check to see what other type of costumed characters are available and the cost. Dunkin The Dolphin Birthday Party: Sue LaCrosse said they will have this event again. It was suggested we hire two face painters. Face Painting: Yes, but maybe look at hiring two. Magic Show: Consider this as an event. Pancake Breakfast: Karen Youngberg said it is set for Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Applebees. Fun Run: Doubtful. Plant & Flower Show: Suggested by Diane Sannes. Karen Youngberg said it could be part of the Craft & Business Expo. She will contact Diane to see if she wants to chair it. Honor Veterans: If this is done, it would probably need to be done in conjunction with the parade. Mike Meyer will consider and if the parade committee is interested will contact the Legion or VFW. Bookmobile: Karen Youngberg will check with Diane Sannes to see if we can get it for next year. NEW BUSINESS: None NEXT MEETING: Council/Commision Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL. ADJOURN: There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Councilmember Mary O’Connor to adjourn the meeting.
