Meeting Minutes
April 15, 2008
PRESENT:
Mike Meyer, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Councilmember Mary
O’Connor, Kathleen Carmody and Sue LaCrosse.
Phil Cohen called the meeting to order at 8:03 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Cathy Ballot to
approve the minutes of the March 18, 2008 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
: Cathy Ballot reported $9,644.57 in checking and $14,467.89 in the CD for a
total of $24,112.46. There was a motion by Mike Meyer seconded by Kathleen Carmody to accept the
treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse highlighted the changes and additions to the budget proposal.
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the proposed budget. Motion
carried. Phil Cohen suggested we take $3,000 out of our reserve to add to the $5,000 allocated for
Fireworks. He said this is one of our premier events.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Sue LaCrosse reported that Joy Reinhart would like some gift
certificates for their door prizes. Kathleen Carmody said they would have a few for her.
DUNKIN BIRTHDAY PARTY
: No report.
FACE PAINTING:
No report.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Kathleen Carmody reported most of the prizes are purchased.
Councilmember Mary O’Connor said she could go out to get gift certificates again.
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL:
No report.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
No report.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
No report.
MAGIC SHOW
: No report.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
No report.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST:
This agenda item was deferred to the next meeting.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer reported he has five bands for sponsorships and two additional bands. A spot is
being held for Champlin Park. He had to decline the Virginia Marching Band. Forest Lake Jr. High will
participate but are non-competitive. He is going to meet with Kathy from Luther Auto. He is going to
request six cars for Karen, Dunkin, the Lioness and the vets. There are 39 entrants to date.

PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the publicity proposal. The publicity proposal was approved
in the budget. Councilmember Mary O’Connor said she would be willing to be on the Northwest Cities
show.
SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT:
No report.
TRIVIA CONTEST:
No report.
OTHER EVENTS:
Phil Cohen has talked to Dale Greenwald. The key would be to have the band play a
patriotic medley. He is going to check with Victory Flag Company to see about buying a bunch of little flags.
The band would play songs and each branch of the armed services would stand. It needs to be timed while it
is still light but not too early. He said we could do a promo at the Memorial Day ceremony at Mound
Cemetery.
Kathleen Carmody said the Bookmobile can come. We will request a start time of 1:30 p.m.
Mike Meyer said Caribou Coffee store wants to get involved.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Mike Meyer to change
the meeting time to 4:00 p.m. Motion carried.
EXT MEETING: Room 221 (upper level) at the
N Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. in the
COMMUNITY CENTER.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Mike Meyer to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
