Meeting Minutes
June 10, 2008
PRESENT:
Mike Meyer, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Councilmember Mary O’Connor, Joy Reinhart,
Kathleen Carmody and Sue LaCrosse.
Phil Cohen called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Mike Meyer to
approve the minutes of the June 3, 2008 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
: Cathy Ballot reported $25,616.25 in checking. There was a motion by Mike
Meyer, seconded by Joy Reinhart to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Phil Cohen reported
that Cathy Ballot received the Fellowship Award from Rotary today.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse highlighted the changes and additions to the budget. Three more
$20 parade entries and $300 from BrookPark Dental were received. The sign shop at the city garage
changed the dates on the banners saving the committee $300.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Joy Reinhart said they will update the letters this weekend and
confirmations will go out shortly.
DUNKIN BIRTHDAY PARTY
: No report.
FACE PAINTING:
No report.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Everything is in pretty good shape.
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL:
No report.
HONOR THE VETERANS:
Phil Cohen reported the proposed agenda is the presentation of
the colors followed by the Star Spangled Banner song. As each service march is played, the veterans
representing that service will stand and be recognized. The sequence of the armed forces services medley is
as follows: Army - The Caissons Go Rolling Along; Navy - Anchors Away; Coast Guard - Semper Paratus;
The Marine Corp - From The Halls of Montezuma; Air Force - Off We Go Into The Wild Blue Yonder. The
program will begin approximately 8:30 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Sue LaCrosse said it is listed on Brookdale’s website.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
No report.
MAGIC SHOW
: No report.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
No report.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer said there will be a king & queen from Brooklyn Center. There are 89 units.

Letters were made to neighbors, which will be mailed out. Confirmation letters should go out later this week.
PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse said the Northwest Cities show was taped with interviews by Mike
Meyer and a few veterans. The program will air next week. Public service notices have been sent to the
radio and television stations. The tabloid ad sales have been going well and it should be a nice publication.
She will check with Wendy at the Sun Post to see if the information on the Honor the Veterans can get in
other city issues.
SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT:
No report.
TRIVIA CONTEST:
There will be no Brooklyn Center trivia. Questions will be of broader topics
OTHER EVENTS:
It is set but she will double check next week.
OLD BUSINESS:
The committee decided not to have the children from the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization help because
they are too young.
NEW BUSINESS:
None.
EXT MEETING: Room 221 (upper level) at the
N Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the
COMMUNITY CENTER.
Meeting schedule: Tuesday, June 24 at 4:00 p.m. at the community center.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Mike Meyer to adjourn the meeting at
4:20 p.m. The meeting was adjourned.
