HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008 03-18 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes March 18, 2008 PRESENT: Mike Meyer, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Councilmember Mary O’Connor, Kathleen Carmody and Sue LaCrosse. Phil Cohen called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the February 19, 2008 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT : Cathy Ballot reported $5,934.25 in checking and $15,408.23 in the CD for a total of $21,342.48. There was a motion by Mike Meyer seconded by Phil Cohen to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. BUDGET/FINANCE: Sue LaCrosse highlighted the changes and additions to the budget proposal. CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO: Sue LaCrosse said we have five exhibitors so far. DUNKIN BIRTHDAY PARTY : No Report. FACE PAINTING: The face painters are all set. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Kathleen Carmody reported she has a pretty good start on getting prizes. Phil Cohen said Rotary has to get more involved. HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: No report. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Sue LaCrosse said that Cindy Whelan called her and they will have face painting and a balloon artist. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: No report. MAGIC SHOW : No report. MUSIC/FIREWORKS: Phil Cohen said Bremer Bank will be donating $1,000 for the Midnight Breeze band. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The date of our pancake breakfast fundraiser is June 21. We will decide at the next meeting whether we have the capacity to have this fundraiser. PARADE: Mike Meyer reported three high school bands and one junior high band. He said his committee has met. He has sent in the paperwork requesting Aquatennial participation at the parade and the concert. He has not heard back. PUBLICITY: Sue LaCrosse has contacted four diversity newspapers, the Star Tribune and the Sun 1 Post. The Star Tribune is a major sponsor of Tater Daze and they were not interested in discussing that relationship or in developing a sponsorship of Earle Brown Days. The BC Buzz timeline will not work for us this year. She will develop a publicity proposal for the next meeting. Sue LaCrosse distributed a postcard type promotional handout that has the Dunkin Birthday Party on one side and the schedule of events on the other side. The City is having an open house for city departments on April 12 and the recreation department will have a table. These will be displayed on the recreation table. SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT: No report. TRIVIA CONTEST: Kathleen Carmody said the work will be done later. NEW BUSINESS: Kathleen Carmody has made an online request for the Bookmobile. She is waiting to hear back. Phil Cohen said at our previous meeting we had discussed the idea of having something set up at the concert for honoring the veterans. He thought maybe we could invite service people to come and stand up. He will talk to Dale. Phil Cohen said he is not comfortable in chairing more than one committee. He is already the chair of the birthday party committee. He will talk to Karen to see if she thinks she will be back. If not, we should look at someone to fill this position for the remainder of this year. EXT MEETING: Council/Commission Conference N Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. in the Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
