Meeting Minutes
April 21, 2009
PRESENT:
Kathleen Carmody, Mike Meyer, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg,
Councilmember Tim Roche, Paula Helgerson, Alicia Anderson and Sue LaCrosse.
Kathleen Carmody called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Mike Meyer to
approve the minutes of the March 17, 2009 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
: Cathy Ballot reported $6,686.77 in checking and $15,240.97in a CD for a
balance of $22,109.74. She said the CD is coming due and she will transfer the money to the checking
account. There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Karen Youngberg to approve the Treasurer’s
Report. Motion carried.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget sheet. There were no changes to the
expenses. We have received some donations.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Sue LaCrosse said we have four exhibitors at $45 and 1 at $90. We
have one food vendor so far. She said an ice cream vendor called. Karen Youngberg will call Steve Lampi to
see if Bridgeman’s plans to participate. If he is not interested, Sue LaCrosse will contact the other vendor.
DUNKIN BIRTHDAY PARTY
: Sue LaCrosse said everything is set.
FACE PAINTING:
Karen Youngberg said Shane Mason will sponsor one of the face painters.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Karen Youngberg said she will bring a sign-up sheet for workers to a
Rotary meeting soon.
HONOR OUR VETERANS:
Phil Cohen said preliminary contacts have been made.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Sue LaCrosse said the EBHC will do everything for the ice cream
social.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Sue LaCrosse said she hasn’t heard from BrookPark Dental yet. Phil
Cohen will make a contact.
MAGIC SHOW
: No report.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
Phil Cohen presented a check for $1,000 from Bremer Bank for the band.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer reported he met with Kathy from Luther Chevy and they will supply cars
again. He will need cars for the Grand Marshal, Dunkin, King & Queen from BCHS, and EBD Chair. He
suggested Madeleine Roche as a Grand Marshal possibility. We have a lot of units already.

PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse reported back on the committee’s request to put up more signs. The
committee members made suggestions on the sign designs she provided. It was recommended we add
Central Park/Civic Center, remove the lists of events and add some colorful graphics, like a flag and ice cream
cone. She will make up a couple new designs and send them to the committee. She will draft a proposal to
the recreation director requesting signs be put up in parks and City owned properties. Councilmember Tim
Roche said he has talked to Jaimie and FastSigns will make two 4' x 8' signs if we would purchase two more.
SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT:
No report.
OTHER EVENTS:
The person playing Dora can speak some limited Spanish.
OLD BUSINESS:
Alicia Anderson said they will have representatives from the library in the park.
Sue LaCrosse said we could provide a table and a couple of chairs. Councilmember Tim Roche requested
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 27. She will check and get back to us.
NEW BUSINESS:
Phil Cohen asked if we could put an ending time of 3:30 p.m. on the schedule for the
Family Fun & Games. Sue LaCrosse said the brochures have gone out, but she can add it to the information
on the website. Councilmember Roche said he has difficulty making the 4:00 p.m. meetings because of his
job. He will not be available to attend all meetings.
EXT MEETING: Room 221 (upper level) at the
N Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. in the
COMMUNITY CENTER.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Councilmember Tim Roche, seconded by Karen Youngberg to adjourn
the meeting. The meeting was adjourned.
