take about $600.00 from reserves. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve
the budget sheet. Motion carried.
CHARACTERS:
No report.
Kathleen Carmody arrived and meeting was turned over to her.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Sue LaCrosse said we have 15 exhibitors at $45, 1 at $90, 1 at $30 and
5 paid food vendors plus Lions Club. We have three non-profit groups. We would provide a table for Girls
and Boys Club, but the other non-profits need to provide their own. Karen Youngberg is submitting an
additional non-profit group for BC Reads. Sue LaCrosse said a business by the name of Ascendancy
Research would like to participate. They sign people up for research databases. Joy Reinhart would like to
check into it. She will decide by next week. Set-up will begin at 8:00 a.m. Phil Cohen will have Rotary
members there. Exhibitor confirmation letters will go out next week.
DUNKIN BIRTHDAY PARTY:
No report.
FACE PAINTING:
No report.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Phil Cohen asked if we could have someone fill the balloons again. Sue
said yes. Kathleen Carmody is working on getting door prizes. Kathleen Carmody and Karen Youngberg
will do the prizes but they need people to help with the winners.
HONOR OUR VETERANS:
Phil Cohen requested $235 plus tax to purchase five service flags.
There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the purchase of the flags.
Motion carried. Phil Cohen said he asked Palmer Lake VFW if they would like to have taped marching music
included as part of the program. Everything else is ready to go. Karen Youngberg requested a few flyers to
take over to another VFW.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Kathleen Carmody tried contacting the organizers of the ice cream social at St.
Al’s and they did not return her calls. It was decided we would forget trying to contact them further as the
1
ice cream social at the Heritage Center serves a broader base.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Phil Cohen will check with the police chief to make sure he will be
helping.
MAGIC SHOW
: No report.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
No report.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer said he is pushing 90 units. Little Caesar’s is a late entry. We have seven
band sponsors. He is going to check with Nancy Doucette to see if she would do commentary. Luther will
supply cars.
PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse reported she received an email from Jaimie Kline at FastSigns. His
estimate to do the signs is much higher than first anticipated. He is still willing to cover between 50-70% of
the costs. There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Phil Cohen to allocate up to $2,000 towards the
cost of signs and for Sue LaCrosse to bring a map to layout where signs would go maximizing highest traffic
areas. Motion carried. Kathleen Carmody asked Sue to check to see if the unit cost would be the same if we
ordered less signs. It was decided we do not need to order stakes because Kathleen Carmody, Karen
Youngberg and Mike Meyer have several.
Sue LaCrosse said our Northwest Cities show will be taped on Thursday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m. Kathleen
Carmody and Mike Meyer will be interviewed. Sue LaCrosse said we are on the City Pages and Minnesota
Tourism Bureau websites. She will submit notices to the radio and television stations this week. Ben
Trapskin will publicize on Twitter and Face Book. We will also have some information in the library
showcase.

No report.
OLD BUSINESS:
None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Joy Reinhart asked if there would be door prizes to give out to people at the Craft &
Business Expo. She does not want to keep advertising it if we don’t have anything to give out. Many of the
exhibitors indicated they would be willing to donate a prize. Therefore, she has enough prizes for this year.
We will have to let people know that if they win a prize, they will have to pick it up at the community center
because postage costs are too high to mail out.
