HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009 10-20 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes October 20, 2009 PRESENT: Mike Meyer, Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg, Kelly Wussow, and Sue LaCrosse. Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the September 15, 2009 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT: Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $17,107.83 in checking. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Karen Youngberg to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. DONATION/BUSINESS LETTERS: Phil Cohen asked for this to be deferred to a future meeting. Karen Youngberg reported that Visit Minneapolis North will donate $2,000. NON PROFIT GROUPS AT CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO: Joy Reinhart said they did not help nor hurt business. Phil Cohen said the original policy was to allow one organization in the intake area. Where do you stop if you open it up? There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Phil Cohen to limit the nonprofit groups at the Craft & Business Expo to one invited group that serves the City of Brooklyn Center excluding any major sponsors. Motion carried. PARADE ROUTE: Mike Meyer reported he looked at different routes around the City. He has not rd been able to meet with Kevin Benner yet. The route he suggested would go down 63 Avenue beginning on st France and ending on Perry. The staging area would be on France starting at Wangstad Park (61 Avenue) nd with bands on Joyce, 62 & Janet LN. The band awards would be done at Odyssey Charter School. OTHER BUSINESS: Phil Cohen said the Special Events Committee will be sending out their nomination letters soon and he would like the Earle Brown Days committee to consider Medtronic as our nominee. Phil Cohen said the first event for the Centennial Celebration is the Birthday Party. He has a couple people interested in working on the Centennial Committee. In 2010 we will work up some hype for 2011. If he can get a couple more people, they will develop some hype with posters, banners, and other ideas. BCHS will be 50 in 2011. Agenda items for the next meeting will include Centennial Update, Parade Update, and discussion on a preliminary budget for 2010. EXT MEETING:Room 221 at COMMUNITY CENTER.
