Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
January 19, 2010
PRESENT:
Mike Meyer, Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen and Sue LaCrosse.
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Mike Meyer to
approve the minutes of the November 17, 2009 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $17,409.19 in checking. There was a
motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
BUDGET WORKSHEET:
Sue LaCrosse will put together a budget spreadsheet for the next meeting. The
business letters will go out around February 1.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Joy Reinhart said she will keep the price the same. The letters will go out
around February 15.
DUNKIN THE DOLPHIN BIRTHDAY PARTY:
Sue LaCrosse said it is a go.
FACE PAINTING:
This event will be continued. It worked out well last year to put them on the hill next
to the entrance of the Craft & Business Expo.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Cathy Ballot said Rotary will do this event again.
FIREWORKS:
Sue LaCrosse will contact Americana Fireworks Display and book a $5,000 show.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Cathy Ballot said the police chief is planning on it.
MAGIC SHOW:
A decision on this event was tabled to the next meeting.
MIDNIGHT BREEZE:
Sue LaCrosse said they are booked.
PARADE ROUTE:
Mike Meyer reported the parade route will be extended by one block and end

at Quail. It looks like a short route on the map, but when he drove down 63, it seems plenty long. He sent
an e-mail to Tri-State for two judges. There will be a six band limit. We will add, “Will you be staying for
the awards ceremony” to the band application forms. Parking is available along side streets and hopefully the
Park & Ride. Mike Meyer will contact Metro Transit to see if they will allow us to use the lot on that night.
Garden City School may also be available to use. We would need someone directing traffic on Brooklyn
Blvd. Tom Shinnick will be grand marshal. Mike Meyer already has the banner carriers lined up.
PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse said Earle Brown Days will be highlighted on the back page of the spring City

Watch. The City’s website has been updated to say the Official Website of the Earle Brown Days Festival.
OTHER EVENTS:
Mike Meyer suggested having the City’s Puppet Wagon at Earle Brown Days. Sue
LaCrosse will check into it.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy Ballot to nominate Visit

Minneapolis North for the community service award for the 99 Birthday Celebration. Motion carried. Sue
LaCrosse said she will contact Dave Looby to see if he will accept on behalf of Visit Minneapolis North.
Sue LaCrosse asked if we wanted to renew our dues to the Brooklyn Center Business Association. There
was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Mike Meyer to table this item until next month. Motion carried.
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve payment of $542.78 to the City of
Brooklyn Center for the PA system. Motion carried.
