HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010 07-20 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes July 20, 2010 PRESENT: Mike Meyer, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the June 22, 2010 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT: Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $16,733.04 in checking. There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried. BUDGET/FINANCE: Sue LaCrosse updated the committee on the income and expenses. She will send Cathy Ballot the revised spreadsheet for her to review. We should have a final report for the next meeting. Joy Reinhart arrived and began running the meeting. CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO: Joy Reinhart reported the offer to sign up for next year’s show was good. She got 13. Sue gave her the applications of the people who signed up but did not pay. A lot of the first time vendors commented on the personal touch they were given and said they were thinking of dropping another festival. She is going to check into the Grapevine website. She scoped out Riverfest and Robbinsdale Whiz Bang Days. She suggested advertising the events and times at the registration table. DUNKIN THE DOLPHIN BIRTHDAY PARTY: Sue LaCrosse said there were a lot of daycares attending this year. They put their daycare children at picnic tables and then came up to the table wanting 10 or 15 plates of food all at the same time. We weren’t equipped for that. FACE PAINTING: Went good. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Phil Cohen counted the number of kids involved. There were more females than males. We had plenty of door prizes. Cathy Ballot said Shane Mason invited her to go in and order prizes next year. The number of kids was less this year. Phil Cohen suggested publicizing the “shoe kick” as the highlight. FIREWORKS: We will have a bigger show next year if we can raise the money. GOLF TOURNAMENT: Went well. HONOR OUR VETERANS: There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy Ballot that this be set up as a separate committee and to ask Myrna Kauth to chair. Motion carried. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: Sue LaCrosse reported only four fish were caught. 1 MAGIC SHOW: Sue LaCrosse said we had a really good crowd. If we decide to have the magic show back next year, it will be the Adventures In Magic Show, which will be a different show from previous years. MIDNIGHT BREEZE: No report. PARADE ROUTE: Mike Meyer reported Dupont Avenue may not work for future parades. He will invite the Park Center band director to take a look at the street when it is completed. PUBLICITY: Sue LaCrosse would like to see more money budgeted for publicity next year. The sign locations were good. The committee will invite Vickie to a future meeting to discuss our options for adding signs next year. NEW BUSINESS: Cathy Ballot reported on Helicopter rides at another festival. It cost the participants $40. Other ideas discussed including inviting the National Guard, hotdog or corn on the cob st eating contests with $50 for 1 prize and a $5 entry fee. Applebee’s has sponsored pie eating contests in other communities. There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Cathy Ballot to appoint Myrna Kauth to the Earle Brown Days Board of Directors for a 3 year term. Motion carried.
