Meeting Minutes
May 18, 2010
PRESENT:
Mike Meyer, Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Phil Cohen, Kelly Stade, Mike Heflin - Sun
Post and Sue LaCrosse.
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Cathy Ballot to
approve the minutes of the April 20, 2010 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $20,870 in Bremer Bank checking and
$2,037.74, Wells Fargo checking for a total of $22,903. She will make a deposit today. Our total will
be $25,063.
SUN POST SUMMER SPECIAL SECTION
: Mike Heflin of the Sun Post said he will be
coordinating the summer special sections. He asked for ideas of businesses in Brooklyn Center he could
contact. Sue LaCrosse said the community center will take out a ½ page and suggested he contact Joe
Ericksen for a Centerbrook Ad. He said it will be bigger and better than last year. Sue LaCrosse said
she will email the editorial information.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the spreadsheet and said we will be about $3,500
short. There are a number of businesses that have not donated this year. Phil Cohen said the philosophy
is to only ask for the amount of money we need. Sue LaCrosse said if we keep dipping into our reserve,
we won’t have enough money to continue. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy
Ballot to take $3,000 from the reserve to add to the $5,000 Medtronic donation and negotiate a fireworks
show for $8,000. Motion carried.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Joy Reinhart said we have 13 vendors. The Rotary members
should start at 8:00 a.m.
DUNKIN THE DOLPHIN BIRTHDAY PARTY:
No report.
FACE PAINTING:
No report.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
We should have approximately 20 adult door prizes and 20 child door
prizes.
FIREWORKS:
No report.
GOLF TOURNAMENT:
No report.
HONOR OUR VETERANS:
No report.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Sue LaCrosse asked if the former police chief would be the fish

official. Cathy Ballot will check with him.
MAGIC SHOW:
No report.
MIDNIGHT BREEZE:
No report.
PARADE ROUTE:
Mike Meyer said he has three additional units. They are Centerbrook, Lions
Grand Marshal and Odyssey Academy. Odyssey does have an after school program until 6. He will
make up some flyers for them so those parents can get in. They will provide the power for the PA. So
far he has heard that four bands are staying.
PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse reported we can have 4 on-site signs at the community center, west
fire station, BCHS and Centerbrook. We can also have 5 signs put up on commercial or industrial sites.
Mike will check with Super America or O’Reilly’s. Phil Cohen will check with Dr. Orn and Luther
Auto. Cathy Ballot will check with Shane Mason. Sue LaCrosse will ask Karen Youngberg to check

with Brookdale Health. For backup commercial areas, the committee thought of the Shell station on 69
& Brooklyn Blvd, Cub Foods and Malborg’s.
