Meeting Minutes
September 21, 2010
PRESENT:
Myrna Kauth, Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Karen Youngberg, Phil Cohen, Keith Lester,
Diane Sannes, and Sue LaCrosse
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Karen Youngberg to approve the minutes of August 17,
2010. Motion carried.
Diane Sannes asked about the annual meeting. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Karen
Youngberg to continue on with the agenda items. Diane Sannes left the meeting.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $17,884.91. There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by
Karen Youngberg to approve the Treasurer’s Report.
BUDGET/FINANCE
The committee reviewed the proposed budget spreadsheet. Karen Youngberg will call Dave Looby to
confirm that we will receive $2,000 again next year.
Todd Cannon of the Brooklyn Center Lions Club joined the meeting.
EVENTS
Rockinˊ Hollywoods
– The committee decided to book the Rockinˊ Hollywoods for Tuesday, June 21
for a maximum amount of $2,300.
Characters
– The committee decided to continue with characters but to drop from four to two next year.
Pony Rides/Horse Rides
– No
Helicopter Rides
– No
Farm Animals/Petting Zoo
– Cathy Ballot will arrange to have them here from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Fee is
$700 plus mileage. Cathy Ballot will check on specific mileage costs.
Fun Run
– Keith Lester said Three Rivers may be interested in coordinating. He said he has a meeting
on October 5 with them. The EBD committee decided to leave this event to the Centennial Committee.
Senior Coronation
– Sue LaCrosse said there will be a senior event as part of the Centennial but it will
be held in May. If they decide to do a coronation, king & queen could appear at various EBD events.
Critters & Company
– No
Car Show
– Karen Youngberg reported Oak City has a car show every Wednesday night. She will

work with them and Luther Auto. She will find out what kind of a car show it is. This will be added to
the schedule.
BC’s Got Talent
– Keith Lester said he has talked to Dave Looby about being a key planner.
Battle of the Bands
– Keith Lester said this event is slightly better than tentative. If it goes, it would be
held Friday night in Central Park.
Taste of Brooklyn Center
– Myrna Kauth has a meeting with CEAP and will find out if they are
planning to do a Taste of Brooklyn Center in 2011.
Corn/Pie Eating Contest
– Joy said she contacted Baker’s Square and they would donate pies. She
said Whiz Bang Days charges participants money to compete. Karen Youngberg suggested Perkins be
contacted. Keith Lester said Davanni’s is interested in getting involved. The committee decided against
offering this event.
Young People’s Group
– Karen Youngberg made a contact but they did not call her back. There was a
motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve up to $500 for a young people’s group.
Motion carried. Karen Youngberg will contact Sue LaCrosse with confirmation of a group. This event
would be held Wednesday evening.
Airplane fly over
– Keith Lester said this will happen. Jeff Delzer believes he can secure funding and
they may offer a ride in the plane for sponsorship.
Helicopter
– The State Patrol will bring in their helicopter for the kids to look at. We will request they
come from10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Craft & Business Expo
– Cathy Ballot had some additional names to add to the exhibitor mailing list.
Sue LaCrosse said she thought all early exhibitor checks were in except two. Joy Reinhart said she will
be going to craft shows. She will pick up additional exhibitor cards.
Dunkin The Dolphin Birthday Party
– No report.
Face Painting
– The committee decided to continue this event.
Family Fun & Games
– Cathy Ballot and Karen Youngberg will get prizes for the Family & Fun &
Games. Phil Cohen said the Rotary Board hasn’t decided if they are going to give something to
Centennial or not. But they will donate to EBD for sure.
Honor Our Veterans
– Myrna Kauth will be meeting with Keith Lester. She would like the Veterans
from the different branches to carry their own flag. Palmer Lake VFW will do the color guard. She
wants to talk to St. Al’s and the Knights of Columbus.
Kids’ Fishing Contest
– This event will be continued.
Magic Show
– This event will be continued.
Music/Fireworks
– Phil Cohen said we will send a letter to Bremer in sponsorship of the band for
Saturday night. Sue LaCrosse said we won’t know until late spring whether Medtronic will sponsor the
fireworks.
Parade
– Todd Cannon reported the parade route has not been determined.

Publicity
– Sue LaCrosse said publicity is expensive. She said she budgeted $1,000 but because of all
of the Centennial publicity maybe we don’t need it. Karen Youngberg suggested leaving it in just in
case.
Senior Golf Tournament
– This event will stay on Friday.
