Meeting Minutes
January 18, 2011
PRESENT:
Myrna Kauth, Joy Reinhart, Cathy Ballot, Karen Youngberg, Phil Cohen, and Sue
LaCrosse
Joy Reinhart called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of
September 21, 2010. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $18,042.23. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Myrna
Kauth to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried. Cathy Ballot reported she filed the 990N for
January through December, 2011.
BUDGET/FINANCE
Karen Youngberg reported that she talked to Dave Looby and we will receive $2,000 from Minneapolis
Northwest for marketing. Sue LaCrosse will make a spreadsheet for next month’s meeting.
EVENTS
BC Battle of the Bands –
Joy Reinhart said this is a Centennial Event.
Car Show
– Karen Youngberg will meet with Chris Johnson and the manager of Oak City next
Wednesday. If Oak City does not want to do a car show, Luther Chevrolet will.
Characters
– We will have two characters. Sue LaCrosse will check to see what is most popular.
Craft & Business Expo
– Joy Reinhart will begin going out to craft shows in February. She asked
committee members that if they go to shows, to please give the names to Joy. They will be added to the
invite lists. Joy Reinhart has reached out to the Liberian community.
Dunkin The Dolphin Birthday Party
– No report.
Face Painting
– We have two face painters lined up.
Family Fun & Games
– Cathy Ballot spent $157 on prizes. Phil Cohen would like to see Henry Dorff
invited.
Farm Animals/Petting Zoo
– Cathy Ballot will double check with them on the time.
Honor Our Veterans
– Myrna Kauth met with someone from the Minnesotan’s Military Appreciation
Fund. They have grants available for Veterans Post 911. She said Jeff Delzer is arranging for 4-5
planes to fly over during the program and they will each make four passes. A paratrooper may land in
the field. They are contacting the Red Bulls to see if they could come and play. Myrna Kauth would

like a veteran from each branch carry their flag.
Kid’s Craft Area
– The committee wants to continue this.
Kid’s Fishing Contest
– Cathy Ballot will check with Kevin Benner to see if the police department can
help again.
Magic Show
– Sue LaCrosse said this will be the Adventures in Magic Show.
Music/Fireworks
– Phil Cohen suggested we show Medtronic what we are doing with the Veterans
program. It would be more fitting to have a patriotic theme built into the display. We could provide
music to accompany the fireworks. Sue LaCrosse said Midnight Breeze is all set.

Parade
– Sue LaCrosse reported for Mike Meyer that the parade will be on 63 Avenue.
Publicity
– No report.
Rockinˊ Hollywoods
– The committee may request funds from the Centennial Committee for this
group.
Senior Golf Tournament
– No report.
Treasure Hunt
– Joy Reinhart said this will be a Centennial event.
Young People’s Group
– Sue LaCrosse said The Flyers will perform at 7:00 p.m. She is trying to get
the Brooklyn Center Puppet Playhouse to perform a puppet show at 6:30 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS
There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Myrna Kauth to renew our membership with the
BCBA and pay the following bills:
Cathy Ballot $157.30 Prizes for Family Fun & Games
City of Brooklyn Center 70.00 2 tickets for Birthday Party for nominee & guest
BCBA 100.00 Annual membership renewal
Motion carried.
Karen Youngberg would be willing to contact businesses for donations.
