EVENTS Characters – Sue LaCrosse said the characters were not a very big attraction this year. Karen Youngberg said Repunzel did a really good job. Craft & Business Expo – Sue LaCrosse said that Joy Reinhart had said many of the exhibitors were happy with sales. Dunkin The Dolphin Birthday Party – Sue LaCrosse reported attendance was down for this event. This may be due to the fact that no day cares attended. Face Painting – Sue LaCrosse reported it did not seem like many people got their face painted. We may want to look at changing the time for this activity. The closing of some of the ramps created problems for the face painters – they did not get here on time. Family Fun & Games – Cathy Ballot reported she spent $228.00, probably more on adults and boys. There was a good turnout with more boys than last year. Honor Our Veterans – Councilmember Dan Ryan said it was spectacular to see the planes. In the future, it would be nice if someone from Brooklyn Center could be recognized on stage. He said Myrna did a fantastic job. Kid’s Craft Area – Sue LaCrosse said this was very popular. She went over about an hour because 1 kids kept coming. We may want to look at doing this for 3-4 hours next year. Kid’s Fishing Contest – Sue LaCrosse said we had about the same number of kids. It was nice not to have the weeds this year. Magic Show – The committee said this event was good and we should have it again next year. Music/Fireworks – The fireworks were truly spectacular. Parade – Mike Meyer reported there was a bunch up with some units. The bands were good. The only trouble was that some people were coming in on the lineup area. There was an issue of some units throwing candy. He said Curves reported some units were handing out flyers. Sue LaCrosse suggested having a two tier fee structure, one for units not passing out flyers and a higher fee for passing things out. Petting Zoo – This was one of the more popular events. Cathy Ballot will see if they are available for next year. Sue LaCrosse said the animals loved the grass. Publicity – No report. Rockinˊ Hollywoods – They were very good and everyone who attended really enjoyed the concert. Senior Golf Tournament – Mike Meyer said he may take on a larger role next year. NEW BUSINESS Councilmember Dan Ryan presented Karen Youngberg with the Council resolution expressing appreciation of her service on the Earle Brown Days committee.
