NOMINATION OF BOARD MEMBER There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Phil Cohen to appoint Kama Larry to the board of directors for a 3-year term. Motion carried. Kama Larry said he will be helping to solicit donations and door prizes. SUN POST Erin Wombacher explained what happened with the tab insert last year. She said she could not find businesses to place ads and the new editor did not know the information was to be published in both the Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park papers. She distributed the Crystal Frolics tab and said it cost $6,000. Crystal receives some donations from civic groups. She said the circulation to Brooklyn Center homes is 7,000 and for both Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park about 18,000. The committee asked what kind of a tab we could receive if we spent $1,500-2,000. Sue LaCrosse asked how much editorial space we would have. Erin Wombacher said she will put together a proposal and get back to us. She said another idea is to put a banner on the papers. She also said that everything is tied to their website. The tab insert would also be included on their website. The committee thanked Erin Wombacher for attending the meeting. Erin Wombacher left the meeting. Sue LaCrosse expressed concerns over our proposal to attract more sponsors. She explained that this would take an enormous amount of time. Joy Reinhart said Brent Haugen had suggested an intern. Sue LaCrosse said the recreation department does not have any extra office space. She also said it takes a lot of time to supervisor an intern. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Mike Meyer to table this for further review. Motion carried. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 4:30 p.m., Room 221 at Community Center. ADJOURN: The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully Submitted, Sue LaCrosse, Program Supervisor 1
