presented Year 2000 with a check for $3,500. Jim Glasoe said it will be on the next council agenda
for recognition. A spreadsheet was distributed. It showed all of the expenses so far and who has
paid for each item, Earle Brown Days, Year 2000, or the City. Bob said he thought the Lions would
pay for all of the expenses for the Winter Family Fun Day in addition to the donation of $3,500. Ed
Nelson said the amount listed of $1,336.95 should be $1,366.95.

REPORT - 89TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
Caterer: Kay Lasman said it went well. There was lots of food and people could go back for
seconds. She would definitely use them again. They were in the low price range but brought lots of
the amenities.
1
Entertainment: No report.
Souvenirs: Sean Rahn said they used a local person. He said he did a good job.
Decorations: Myrna Kragness said they were very nice.
Other: Myrna Kragness said next year we have to work on getting more people. She would
like to see a little more diversity. Sean said it was a little on the formal side and a little expensive. Ed
Nelson said February 11 falls on a Sunday next year.
Fireworks: They were great.
MILLENNIUM BOOK
Sean Rahn said the book is in the process of being put together. Sue LaCrosse said Lee Skavanger is
working with Phil Cohen on this project. Sponsoring the books would include the publication costs.
MEDALLION HUNT UPDATE
Sue LaCrosse said when it was run during Earle Brown Days there were problems. She said you
would have to have a group sponsor it and would have to have some nice prizes. When the Historical
Society ran it, they gave away $100 and the City donated a three month individual swimming pool
membership. It was suggested the Rotary sponsor it. Baylon Loosbrock will bring the suggestion to
a Rotary meeting. It was suggested that maybe the Chamber might be interested in sponsoring and
giving it a business twist. Sue Low said they are starting a new campaign called Buy Brooklyn and it
might make a good kickoff to the program. Myrna Kragness suggested using something like a Bingo
board and having them go to businesses for clues.
PUBLICITY
Sean Rahn asked for suggestions for memorabilia. Suggestions included a pin, embroidered caps, t-
shirts, polo shirts. Myrna Kragness suggested purchasing shirts and having them numbered. At a
designated date, a number would be called, and the person with that shirt would win a prize.
Rev. Hobbs said he and Phil Cohen need to talk to Brookdale about a kiosk to sell memorabilia and
distribute literature.
Sue LaCrosse said we are under a deadline for information on A Day At The Farm and the 4th of July
lighting contest. She said it should go into the City newsletter. School will be out so we will not be
able to send home flyers. Diane Spector is in charge of the lighting contest. Sue said we also need to
have something on the time capsule.
Rev. Hobbs said he has been talking to a couple other pastors about the service on November 19.
They would like to incorporate food baskets for CEAP at Thanksgiving.
Ed Nelson said the Prayer Breakfast is April 8 and that invitations may not be sent out this year. Sue
Low said there will not be a Heritage Festival this year but there will be an event. She handed out
flyers. Kay Lasman asked if the Crime Prevention golf tournament could be included on the schedule.
If interested, they should call Sue LaCrosse.
Myrna Kragness said she would like to get the teens involved. Bob Becker said there are about 60
2
Leos members and they meet during the day.
Phil Cohen passed around a sheet which had 4th of July lights and decorations. He said we have to
determine whether we want to merchandise the lights and deal with hassles, such as lights not
working or work with a vendor.
Phil Cohen said Arnie Mavis has talked to him about a Year 2000 golf tournament.
