donation from the Brooklyn Center Women’s Club for the birthday party. He also reported a
donation of $1000 from the Lions Club to pay for the sleigh rides for two years. Phil will put
together an expense sheet for the expenses he incurred to put together the Millennium Book
application.

EVENTS UPDATE
Winter Family Fun Day
– Will be held Saturday, February 3 from 1-3 p.m. We will again have the
sleigh rides, the ice sculptures and refreshments. Bob Becker will call Gene Hageman about chairing
the event.
th
90 Birthday Party
– Kay Lasman reported that she would like to go with a new caterer. She is
inexpensive and does a nice presentation. The cost is $9.75 per plate plus tax and gratuity. We will
have roast beef, chicken breast, mashed potatoes, carrots, rolls, butter and coffee. Kay will purchase
pop again. There was a motion by Kay Lasman, seconded by Tony Kuefler to hire this caterer at the
rate of $9.75 per plate plus tax and gratuity. Motion carried.
Phil Cohen said Margaret Sandberg would do the decorations.
Entertainment will consist of the Park Center Folk Group and a 6-7 minute multi-cultural drama. It
was decided they would go on at 7:15 p.m. and the program should last 30 minutes. The fireworks
will go off at 8 p.m. It was decided that door prizes would be awarded at 8:30 p.m. This way people
would stay around for the dance. They will have to be present to win. Phil said we will have the
same band as last year and a female vocalist will be added. It is the choir director at Brooklyn Center
High School.
Phil Cohen asked what kind of a give-away or keepsake the committee wanted to give out this year.
Last year the mugs cost $700 for 120. It was decided it should be something different than the mug.
Sue LaCrosse figured out revenue and expenses. If 100 people attended the party, revenue would be
$2,500. Expenses were estimated at $1,950 for dinner, decorations, and the dance group. That
leaves about $450 for a give-away. There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Pastor Bruce
Hobbs to approve up to $700 for a give-away. Motion carried.

should come up with an idea to present at the next meeting.

liked the format and would like to see it again next year.

Center organizations. There was a motion by Bob Becker, seconded by Kay Lasman to approve the

the books printed up and distributed to the schools. Phil asked for Pastor Hobbs help in getting them
out the churches.

th

out on a different color than goldenrod. He would like something jazzier. Sue LaCrosse and Tony
Kuefler will design the promotional flyer and get them out early January. There was a motion by
Pastor Bruce Hobbs, seconded by Baylon Loosbrock for Tony Kuefler and Sue LaCrosse to design
the flyer. Motion carried.
