EVENTS UPDATE
Winter Family Fun Day
– Phil Cohen said the Winter Family Fun Day went excellent.
th
90 Birthday Party
– Councilmember Lasman said she has made a reservation with the caterer for
100 people. The caterer will do 10% over but for people who take more to eat. No additional people
can be added. If there is anyone requesting tickets to the dinner, they should be referred to Phil
Cohen. He will determine what he has left. Right now he has 4 spots, North Memorial 8, and
Brookdale 4.
Councilmember Lasman said the caterer would stop in to check the kitchen and ovens. She will have
the glasses and dinnerware delivered Friday morning and they will be packed in boxes. Margaret
Sandberg will begin decorating at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The helium and balloons will be delivered on
Friday. The women’s club will need a cash box.
Phil Cohen has collected some door prizes including a bag of stuff from North Memorial, five $10 gift
certificates from Brookdale and a $50 savings bond from Marquette Bank. Sue LaCrosse said there
are 71 t-shirts, polo shirts, mugs and caps left. Sean Rahn said he had some merchandise too. She
wanted to know if we could give one item out to each participant as they check in. The committee
thought this was a good idea. Phil Cohen would like to have some notepads printed up with the
Millennium information on it. There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Baylon Loosbrock
to approve the printing of the notepads to be given out at the birthday party. Motion carried.
The committee worked on revising the program. Sue LaCrosse will check to make sure the American
Flag and the City Flag are in the room. The piano is already tuned. Phil Cohen will make sure we
have a check for the caterer and the band.
Committee Continuing
– Phil Cohen asked if the committee should continue beyond the birthday
party. Sean Rahn said he would like to see the committee go beyond sponsoring a few events. Phil
Cohen said he sees it being an extension of the old Discover The Center committee. He asked if he
should prepare a survey to be given out at the dinner. Kay Lasman said it would have to be a short
survey. Phil Cohen said we would have to have City support in order for it to be successful. He will
1
talk to Mike. He said that if the committee ends after this year, any surplus dollars would go to the
city.
Time Capsule
– Tony Kuefler will coordinate that evening.
History Book
– Tony Kuefler said a sample will be available.
