HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 01-03 SECM BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE THURSDAY, JANUARY 3, 4 PM BROOKLYN CENTER CITY HALL MEETING MINUTES Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. ATTENDANCE Baylon F. Loosbrock, Rotary; Tony Kuefler, Time Capsule; Ed Nelson, Councilmember; Pastor Bruce Hobbs, Thanksgiving Service; Sue Low, Brooklyn Community Chamber; Sue LaCrosse, Earle Brown Days; Phil Cohen, Chairman. FINANCIAL REPORT Phil Cohen reported a balance of $2,480.38. Phil Cohen reported that a general information letter would go out to the organizations with a nomination form. A separate letter will also go out to the organizations requesting financial support. Tony Kuefler said the Taxpayers Association approved $200 toward the event. Phil Cohen said the Lions Club and Rotary have been contacted. He said other possibilities are the police association, fire association, chamber, community ed, Historical Society, Convention & Tourism Bureau, and Women’s Club. Sue Low recommended a thank you poster be put up on an easel at the event. Publicity – Sue Low will get the mailing labels for the Chamber and Rotary. Phil Cohen will get the labels for the Lions Club, Tony Kuefler will get the labels for the Taxpayers Association and Historical Society, Sue LaCrosse will get labels for the commissioners and past participants of the birthday party. Sue LaCrosse will have the invitation flyers sent. The Special Events committee will reimburse the City for the postage. Phil Cohen asked if we could get some promotion on Cable 12. Sue LaCrosse recommended Tony Kuefler for an interview and will check with Jim Glasoe as to that possibility. Baylon Loosbrock said he has the original tape of the video from last year. Phil Cohen said he would contact Lauri Winters about doing an interview and story about the change from Year 2000 to Special Events Committee. Phil wants extra copies of the invitations to give out to some of the businesses. Phil Cohen would like a draft of the program for the next meeting. NEXT MEETING Thursday, January 17, 4:00 p.m. Brooklyn Center City Hall, Conference Room on lower level.
