HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 03-28 SECM BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 2002, 4 PM BROOKLYN CENTER CITY HALL MEETING MINUTES Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:09 p.m. ATTENDANCE Baylon F. Loosbrock, Rotary; Tony Kuefler, Time Capsule; Kay Lasman, Pastor Bruce Hobbs, Thanksgiving Service; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Mayor Myrna Kragness, Sue LaCrosse, Earle Brown Days; Phil Cohen, Chairman. FINANCIAL REPORT Cost of Heritage Center $6,562.87 Checkbook Balance $2,480.80 Income $1,340.50 City Support $3,004.30 Total $3,820.88 Income Registrations $3,325.00 Expense Estimate $2,497.94 Amount owed $233.57 Estimated cash balance $1,322.94 There was a motion by Pastor Bruce Hobbs, seconded by Baylon Loosbrock to approve the financial report. Motion carried. TIME CAPSULE It was decided that the Earle Brown Days committee would help set the agenda for the time capsule ceremony for Sunday, June 30. EVALUATION OF BIRTHDAY PARTY The Heritage Center was good. The food was excellent. The entertainment was superb. It was decided that we should continue and increase the civic group involvement. Some of the award recipients and some of the presenters would have liked to talk. The committee thought this would tend to get too long. OTHER BUSINESS Phil Cohen said he is working with the scouts to have more professionalism to their presentation. The veterans groups are diminishing. Phil Cohen said he will work with them to get more money to invest in flag sockets. He would like the organization to have drill training. NEXT MEETING Next meeting will be held sometime in September. ADJOURNMENT – There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to adjourn the meeting.
