BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2004, 4:00 PM
MEETING MINUTES
Sue LaCrosse called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:04 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Len Lasman; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Tom Shinnick, Brooklyn Historical Society; Tony Kuefler,
Taxpayers Association; Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison.
There was a motion by Tom Shinnick, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to approve the minutes of November 18,
2004. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
No report.
CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT
Dorothy Jacobson had gotten a verbal commitment from Wells Fargo to contribute a savings bond.
THEME DEVELOPMENT
No report.
PROGRAM/ENTERTAINMENT
Tony Kuefler read a letter submitted by Bob Milne. He is a relative of Judy Garland and has volunteered to
sing “Danny Boy” as part of the program. Tony Kuefler said we are looking for community involvement.
There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to accept Bob Milne’s offer and defer to
Kay Lasman to call him and include as part of the program as she sees fit. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
The last person standing award was discussed. Tony Kuefler reported for Phil Cohen that Viking Trophy can
come up with a see through capsule for $40. There was a motion made by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by
Tony Kuefler to keep it simple and rather than spending $40 for a see through capsule, they will use a jar
donated by Joanne Kuefler. Motion carried.
There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by Len Lasman thanking Phil Cohen for his generosity in
donating the $100 for the Last Person Standing Award. Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held Thursday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the community center.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 4:21 p.m.
