BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2005, 4:00 PM
MEETING MINUTES
Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:10 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Len Lasman; Tom Shinnick, Brooklyn Historical Society; Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Dorothy Jacobson,
Women’s Club; Kay Lasman, Council Liaison, Dale Greenwald, Pastor Bruce Hobbs, Vice-President; Sue
Low, Business Community; Phil Cohen, President.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by Sue Low to approve the minutes of the February 3
meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Baylon Loosbrock reported three new checks were issued for the birthday party:
$200.00 North Memorial Health Care
50.00 Lammers and Lammers
30.00 Paid Dinner from Rotary
$280.00 Total
The special events committee owes the City $14.07. There was a $48.99 expense for balloons. The checkbook
balance is $462.60. There was a motion by Councilmember Kay Lasman, seconded by Sue Low to approve the
treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT
Phil Cohen expressed the committee did a great job in making the party a success. He was pleased with the
patriotic eagle trophies. Viking Trophy is very accommodating. Len Lasman felt it was the best party yet.
The committee liked the boy scouts, delicious food, décor, ambience and outstanding entertainment. Margaret
Sandberg’s “Our Town” mural and Earle Brown booklets were inspiring. Linda Lee’s performance was
enjoyable. Dale Greenwald’s National Anthem was wonderful.

DATE FOR 95 PARTY/CONTRACT
There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by Dale Greenwald to book Feb. 4, 2006. Motion
carried. There was a motion by Councilmember Kay Lasman, seconded by Baylon Loosbrock to sign a
contract for our party in 2006 at the Heritage Center. Motion carried.
NEW COMMITTEE MEMBER
Mary Focht, Bremer Bank wishes to join our committee, which was approved by committee members.
TABLE FAVORS
Dorothy Jacobson suggested we have note pads and pens next year.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Tom Shinnick, seconded by Sue Low to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was
adjourned.
