HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005 01-20 SECM BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2005, 4:00 PM MEETING MINUTES Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. ATTENDANCE Len Lasman; Tom Shinnick, Brooklyn Historical Society; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers Association; Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Kay Lasman, Council Liaison, Phil Cohen, President; Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Tom Shinnick to approve the minutes of the January 13 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT Baylon Loosbrock reported $1,079.07 in the bank and $300 from Fire Relief and $250 from the Lions Club give to the City but earmarked for the Birthday Celebration. The total is $1,629.07. There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by Tom Shinnick to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT The nominees to date are: Earle Brown Days Tony Ditty Special Events Committee Pastor Bruce Hobbs Brooklyn Center Women’s Club Dorothy Jacobson Taxpayers Byron Brekke Lions Club Bob Becker Rotary Karen Youngberg Knights of Columbus Frank Noonan The Hmong community will have a nomination for Phil and it was suggested Karen Bolstad be the nominee for the Historical Society. THEME DEVELOPMENT No report. Tony & Joanne Kuefler and Dorothy Jacobson volunteered to help decorate. Councilmember Lasman said they can get in at Noon to decorate. PROGRAM/ENTERTAINMENT The program and entertainment are under control. NEXT MEETING The next meeting will be held Thursday, January 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the community center.
