HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006 02-02 SECM BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2006, 4:15 PM MEETING MINUTES Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. ATTENDANCE Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Phil Cohen, President; Sue Low, Business Community; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers Association; Dale Greenwald, Business Community; Margaret Sandberg, Decorations; Mary Focht, Bremer Bank; Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Mary Focht to approve the minutes of the January 26, 2006 meeting. Motion carried. FINANCIAL REPORT Treasurer Baylon Loosbrock reported that everything was the same as last week. He said we have not received any more contributions. The Lioness Club will donate $50. There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Mary Focht to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. COMMUNITY AWARDS Dale Greenwald will present to Paul Engleman, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to Harold Middleton, Jerry Low to Bobbye Moylan and Baylon Loosbrock to Elaine Bernards. PUNCH LIST The room was changed to accommodate those on the wait list. The set up will be different. The registration desk will be as you come in the main entrance. The balloon crew should plan on meeting at 1:30 p.m. The rest of the room can be decorated as soon as it is vacated from the previous group and the Heritage Center crew has it set up. Sixteen tables will be set up and the bar will be located in the corner in the room. There are enough door prizes for one out of every two people to receive one. Tony Kuefler will edit the script for Sue Low. OTHER BUSINESS Phil Cohen suggested a new idea for next year. It would be called the “Most Obnoxious Sport Coat.” The idea was rejected by the committee. Doug Darnell would like to be on the committee next year. There will be a grand finale door prize after the last song, which will be a patriotic number. We currently have 129 paid reservations with our three complimentary ones, it comes to 132 dinners to be ordered. There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Baylon Loosbrock to authorize paid reservations of 132 plus any more that come in. Motion carried. Sue LaCrosse will find out 1 how many over that they will have available for walk-ins. NEXT MEETING Next meeting is Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 4:15 p.m. at Kay & Len Lasman’s.
