BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
THURSDAY, JANUARY 19, 2006, 4:15 PM
MEETING MINUTES
Tony Kuefler called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Phil Cohen, President; Margaret
Sandberg, Theme & Decorations; Sue Low, Business Community; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers
Association; Dale Greenwald, Business Community; Tom Shinnick, Lions Club; Sue LaCrosse,
recreation staff liaison.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Tom Shinnick, seconded by Margaret Sandberg to approve the minutes of the
January 12, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
Treasurer Baylon Loosbrock reported a checkbook balance of $1,071.89. $3045 is being held in the
City account, which includes dinner reservations and donations. There was a motion by Dorothy
Jacobson, seconded by Tom Shinnick to approve the financial report. Motion carried.
COMMUNITY AWARDS
Sue LaCrosse reported we have the following nominations: Paul Engelman, BC Business Association;
Mayor Myrna Kragness, BC Charitable Foundation; Bobbye Moylan, BC Crime Prevention; John
Russell, BC Lions; Sandy Becker, BC Lioness; Elaine Bernards, BC Prayer Breakfast; Ritchie Miller,
BC Rotary; Laurie Rondesvedt, Special Events; Tim Willson, BC Taxpayers; Lelabel O’Loughlin, BC
Women’s Club; Cathy Ballot, Earle Brown Days; Tom Dalton, Knights of Columbus; Lin
Myszkowski, ISD 279 Garden City School.
CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT
We have received donations from Brooklyn Center American Legion & Legion Auxiliary, Brooklyn
Center Business Association, Brooklyn Center Taxpayers Association, Brooklyn Center Women’s
Club, Brooklyn Center Rotary, Brooklyn Center Charitable Foundation, Brooklyn Center Crime
Prevention and Brooklyn Center Lions. Total contributions are $1,705.
PUNCH LIST
Items that are still in the preliminary column include program, publicity, door prizes, name tags and
final contact with Heritage Center. Sue LaCrosse said Cable 12 may be interested in covering the
birthday celebration. They may want to go over to Earle Brown School and tape a segment of the
students working on the wall mural. Margaret said the room will be decorated by 3:00 p.m. They
may be interested in taping the decorated room before the evening begins.
OTHER BUSINESS
There were corrections for the program. Sue Low suggested we start the mayor welcome at 7:30
and the program at 7:40. The committee decided the door prizes would start earlier and go

throughout the evening as the schedule permitted. Phil Cohen said John Stewart, a professional
photographer would be willing to come and take pictures all evening if we picked up the cost of his
dinner. The committee agreed.

Next meeting is Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 4:15 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Dale Greenwald, seconded by Sue Low to adjourn the meeting. The
meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
