HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006 01-26 SECM BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 2006, 4:15 PM MEETING MINUTES Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. ATTENDANCE Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Phil Cohen, President; Sue Low, Business Community; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers Association; Dale Greenwald, Business Community; Tom Shinnick, Lions Club; Mayor Myrna Kragness; Mary Focht, Bremer Bank; Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison. APPROVAL OF MINUTES There was a motion by Tony Kuefler, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2006 meeting. Motion carried. FINANCIAL REPORT Treasurer Baylon Loosbrock reported a checkbook balance of $1,071.89. $3,045 is being held in the City account, which includes dinner reservations and donations. Total is $5,097.89. There is enough money in the checking account to pay the necessary expenses at the celebration. There was a motion by Mary Focht, seconded by Dale Greenwald to approve the financial report. Motion carried. COMMUNITY AWARDS Sue LaCrosse reported we have the following nominations: Paul Engelman, BC Business Association; Mayor Myrna Kragness, BC Charitable Foundation; Bobbye Moylan, BC Crime Prevention; John Russell, BC Lions; Sandy Becker, BC Lioness; Elaine Bernards, BC Prayer Breakfast; Ritchie Miller, BC Rotary; Laurie Rondesvedt, Special Events; Tim Willson, BC Taxpayers; Lelabel O’Loughlin, BC Women’s Club; Cathy Ballot, Earle Brown Days; Tom Dalton, Knights of Columbus; Lin Myszkowski, Osseo Area Schools ISD 279, Harold Middleton, BC Charter Commission. We are still waiting for some of the nomination forms for Paul Englemna, Mayor Myrna Kragness, Harold Middleton, Bobbye Moylan, Elaine Bernards, and Cathy Ballot. CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT We have received donations from Brooklyn Center American Legion & Legion Auxiliary, Brooklyn Center Business Association, Brooklyn Center Taxpayers Association, Brooklyn Center Women’s Club, Brooklyn Center Rotary, Brooklyn Center Charitable Foundation, Brooklyn Center Crime Prevention and Brooklyn Center Lions. Total contributions are $1,705. PUNCH LIST Changes were made to the program. Phil Cohen will contact Elaine Bernards for the invocation. Tony Kuefler will be the backup. Dorothy Jacobson reported on the donations she has received for door prizes. Sue LaCrosse said that Margaret Sandberg is requesting help to decorate the Captain’s room beginning at 12:30 p.m. Mary Focht, Tony & Joanne Kuefler, and Dorothy Jacobson volunteered. Sue will e-mail Kay and Len Lasman because they usually help. 1 OTHER BUSINESS We are sold out at 120 reservations. Sue LaCrosse said it looks like we have three reserved tables of 10. Tony Kuefler requested the door prize drawing tickets and Sue Low requested the pens so they could do something with them and the tablets. NEXT MEETING Next meeting is Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 4:15 p.m. ADJOURNMENT There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by Tom Shinnick to adjourn the meeting.
