Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:15 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Phil Cohen, President; Tom Shinnick; Pastor Bruce Hobbs, Vice-President; Doug Darnell; Tom
Shinnick, Lions Club; Councilmember Kay Lasman; Len Lasman, Scroll; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers
Association; Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Doug Darnell, seconded by Tom Shinnick to approve the minutes of
November 8, 2007. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
No Report.
CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT
Sue LaCrosse reported the Twin Lake Association will not have a nomination this year but would like
to be kept on the list. The Women’s Club has nominated Doris Ranczka, the Lions Club has
nominated Lorraine Shinnick and Crime Prevention will probably nominate Warren Lindquist.
THEME DEVELOPMENT
Sue LaCrosse said Margaret Sandberg reported through an e-mail that she is working on it. She will
again need people to help decorate the room. Councilmember Kay Lasman said we can get in the
room at Noon.
PROGRAM/ENTERTAINMENT
Phil Cohen said Brooklyn Center High School will make a video presentation of Brooklyn Center.
There were concerns that the Captain’s Room could not accommodate the jazz band. It was
suggested to project the presentation on the wall. Sue LaCrosse expressed concerns that everyone
would be able to see it and that it would not interfere with the decorations. Phil Cohen will plan a trip
to the Heritage Center and will talk to Judith and Keith.
