BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
THURSDAY, JANUARY 31, 2008, 4:15 PM
MEETING MINUTES
Phil Cohen called the Brooklyn Center Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:23 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Phil Cohen, President; Councilmember Kay Lasman; Len Lasman, Scroll; Dorothy Jacobson,
Women’s Club; Sue Low, Business Association; Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Tom Shinnick, Lions
Club; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers Association; Doug Darnell; Dr. Duane, Orn; Margaret Sandberg,
Theme Development; and Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was a motion by Doug Darnell, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to approve the minutes of
January 24, 2008. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Baylon Loosbrock reported income and expenses. He said we are $139 short of our expenses. There
was a motion by Doug Darnell, seconded by Tom Shinnick to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion
carried.
THEME DEVELOPMENT
Margaret Sandberg reported she got a donation from Cub for flowers and will not need any money
for decorations this year.
PROGRAM/ENTERTAINMENT
Phil Cohen said he met with Chris Porter at the Heritage Center. Joe Brough will sing God Bless
America before dinner and Louisa Greenwald will wrap up the evening with America The Beautiful.
COMMITTEE ACTION ITEMS
Sue LaCrosse said the Sun Post will be sending out a photographer and Wendy is writing an article
highlighting all of the recipients. The article will go out in the Thursday issue after the event.
Tony Kuefler reported that he edited all of the information on the candidates. Because there was so
much information on the Heritage Center, he abbreviated the information for Sue Low. The long
version will be printed, folded and stuffed into the programs.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting is Tuesday, January 26, 2008 at 4:15 p.m. at the Lasmans.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Councilmember Kay Lasman, seconded by Margaret Sandberg to adjourn
the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
