4:50 p.m.

Greenwald; Margaret Sandberg; Dorothy Jacobson; Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison.
THEME DEVELOPMENT
Margaret Sandberg said the theme will be something to do with a timeline.

The committee decided on a menu of:
Salad - Baby spinach with candied almonds & raspberry vinaigrette.
Entrée - Almond encrusted chicken with mango cream sauce.
Swiss Gratin potatoes.
Birthday cake.
Councilmember Kay Lasman will check on the vegetarian choices.
HERITAGE CENTER ROOM DISCUSSION
Sue LaCrosse put together a budget for 2011 based on income and expenses in 2010. She prepared a
memo to Jim Glasoe regarding the committee’s request to lower the minimum room charge for
Carriage Hall A to $7,000 for the Birthday Party. There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson,
seconded by Baylon Loosbrock to approve the memo. Motion carried. Baylon Loosbrock reported a
checking account balance of $1,707.63. Councilmember Kay Lasman talked to City Manager, Curt
Boganey. He would like the chairman of the special events committee to call him.
There was a motion by Dale Greenwald, seconded by Sue Low authorizing the chairman to sign a
contract for Saturday, February 5, 2011 with the Earle Brown Heritage Center for a room minimum
of $7,000 pending Phil Cohen’s call to the city manager. Motion carried.
TICKET PRICE
There was a motion by Margaret Sandberg, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to set the ticket price at
$35.00. Motion carried.
CIVIC GROUP INVOLVEMENT
The committee decided to stay with the Eagle. There might be a possibility of putting the Centennial
logo on the plaque.
PROGRAM/ENTERTAINMENT
Margaret Sandberg suggested the Brooklyn Center Jazz Band. It was decided this band will be
1
th
contacted to perform at the 100.
OTHER BUSINESS
The committee discussed ways to increase publicity. It was suggested we request putting information
in the neighborhood watch newsletter and church bulletins. Councilmember Kay Lasman said people
need to be introduced to something at least three times. Other suggestions were National Night Out,
police park meetings and mailing a postcard asking people to save the date. Dale Greenwald
suggested something more fun looking and sounding. Right now people may think it is an awards
type of event only. Sue LaCrosse suggested billing it as the Party of the Century. She will design an
invitation. Margaret Sandberg will see if she can find out what Laurie Rondesvedt has in mind.
To make people feel more comfortable when they come to the event, we could maybe have
Ambassadors or greeters at the door, have an ice breaker activity and committee members could go
around to the different tables.
It was suggested we display the Hall of Fame banners from two years ago in the entry way leading the
Carriage Hall A. We could have the Hall of Famers walk down the aisle after everyone is seated.
Another suggestion was to have a PowerPoint presentation showing in the room. Former
councilmembers, mayors and commissioners should be invited.
NEXT MEETING

Respectfully Submitted,
Sue LaCrosse
