BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2011, 4:30 PM
MEETING MINUTES
Phil Cohen called the Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Phil Cohen, President; Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Doug Darnell, Tom Shinnick, Lions Club; Dr.
Duane Orn; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Margaret Sandberg; Pastor
Bruce Hobbs, Vice-President; Councilmember Kay Lasman; Len Lasman; Mayor Tim Willson, and
Sue LaCrosse, recreation staff liaison.
TREASURER’S REPORT
There was a motion by Pastor Bruce Hobbs, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to approve the
Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
CIVIC AWARDS
Phil Cohen said the awards are done and he will be picking them up.
THEME DEVELOPMENT
Margaret Sandberg reported the decorations are almost done. She said the stuff is dynamite.
VIDEO TAPING
Phil Cohen said Chris Michaelson is working on the video with the horses coming out of the barn.
Then we will have a countdown and fireworks on the screen. Chris will also have the words to Auld
Lang Syne typed and shown on the screen.
PROGRAM
Phil Cohen said thanks to Tony Kuefler everything is set with the Knights and the scouts. Tony
Kuefler said the Knights will present the colors and spread out in front. The scouts will come in and
we will say the pledge and sing the National Anthem.
OTHER
Margaret Sandberg arranged for a wheelchair for a friend. There was a motion by Pastor Bruce
Hobbs, seconded by Sue Low to authorize Councilmember Kay Lasman, Baylon Loosbrock and Sue
LaCrosse to pay the EBHC invoice and any other invoices that need to be paid before the next
meeting. Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held Thursday, March 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Lasman’s house.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Dorothy Jacobson, seconded by Len Lasman to adjourn the meeting. The
meeting was adjourned.
