BROOKLYN CENTER SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
THURSDAY, JANUARY 27, 2011, 4:30 PM
MEETING MINUTES
Phil Cohen called the Special Events Committee meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
ATTENDANCE
Phil Cohen, President; Baylon Loosbrock, Treasurer; Doug Darnell, Tom Shinnick, Lions Club; Dr.
Duane Orn; Tony Kuefler, Taxpayers; Dorothy Jacobson, Women’s Club; Margaret Sandberg; Pastor
Bruce Hobbs, Vice-President; Councilmember Kay Lasman; Len Lasman; and Sue LaCrosse,
recreation staff liaison.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Baylon Loosbrock reported donations and expenses. There was a motion by Pastor Bruce Hobbs,
seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to approve the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried. There was a
motion by Pastor Bruce Hobbs, seconded by Margaret Sandberg to enter into a contract with Joe
Brough’s band. Motion carried.
CIVIC AWARDS
Sue LaCrosse reported we have most of the nomination forms.
THEME DEVELOPMENT
Margaret Sandberg bought some plain white bags so that all of the stuff can go in it and placed on the
chairs. Sue LaCrosse will check to see if we can put decorative labels on them. The community
center staff can prepare them.
VIDEO TAPING
Phil Cohen reported that we met with the video tech teacher. We would want them to tape from
5:45-9:30 p.m. except for dinner.
PROGRAM
Tony Kuefler coordinated the Knights of Columbus and the Scouts. They should be set up around
5:50 p.m. The Knights will enter the hall and the scouts will come in between. We will have dinner
start at 6:15 p.m. Balloons, flowers, bunting, hall of fame banners and other artwork are done.
OTHER
Pastor Bruce Hobbs would like a table of 10 to add Elaine Dean.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held Thursday, February 3 at 4:30 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT
There was a motion by Tom Shinnick, seconded by Dorothy Jacobson to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
