BROOKLYN CENTER - YEAR 2000 CELEBRATION
NOTICE OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
Please come to an organizational meeting to plan the Year 2000 Celebration in Brooklyn Center.
Feel free to bring other interested individuals with you. The meeting will be facilitated by Phil Cohen,
Vice-President, 1999 Earle Brown Days Board of Directors.
DATE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1998
TIME: 7 P.M.
PLACE: CONSTITUTION HALL
BROOKLYN CENTER COMMUNITY CENTER
6301 SHINGLE CREEK PARKWAY
BACKGROUND:
During the planning for the 1998 Earle Brown Days Festival, the Board of Directors of the Earle
Brown Days committee took the initiative to use this years Earle Brown Days celebration to try
to create an interest in the concept of a Gigantic community celebration of the millennium.
There was enough responses for the committee to officially forward the concept to the Brooklyn
Center City Council for their approval. At their July 13 meeting, the City Council officially
requested the Earle Brown Days Committee to proceed to develop the concept of a Year 2000
Celebration.
PROPOSED MEETING SCHEDULE & TENTATIVE AGENDAS:
(Subject to change as needed.)
OCTOBER 19 Present general concept and receive input from those in attendance:
1. Review the developmental work by the Earle Brown Days
Committee.
2. Responses from audience.
3. Approve calendar.
DECEMBER 1. Review the results of the October meeting.
2. Participation by interested organizations/individuals.

3. Open discussion - suggested ideas for the Year 2000 celebration.
JANUARY 1. Review the results of the December meeting.
2. Additional participating organizations/individuals.
3. Decision on formally setting up a STEERING COMMITTEE
that would organize the Year 2000 celebration.
Report to the Earle Brown Days Committee on the progress to date
and seek their approval.
JANUARY OR
FEBRUARY Forward the progress report to the City Council for their approval
of the TENTATIVE planning committees findings and
recommendations to date. Request their approval.
FEBRUARY 1. Review the responses from the Earle Brown Days Committee
and the City Council.
2. Appoint a SELECTION COMMITTEE to seek out 7-9
members that would be the steering committee. The steering
committee would appoint its own chair and the members of the
steering committee would agree to be chair of the various sub-
committees that would be needed.
3. Further develop a PLAN OF ACTION for 1999, including
involvement in the 1999 Celebration.
MARCH 1. Forward February meeting results to the Earle Brown Days
Committee.
2. Prepare the agenda for the balance of 1999.
