HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-026 CCR Member Carol Kleven introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -26 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF ABIY ASSEFA FOR HIS DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE ON THE SHINGLE CREEK AND WEST MISSISSIPPI WATERSHED MANAGEMENT COMMISSIONS WHEREAS, Abiy Assefa served as Brooklyn Center Alternate Commissioner on the Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Watershed Management Commissions from April 10, 2006, to January 31, 2012; and WHEREAS, he has made significant contributions toward the goal of the Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Watershed Management Commissions, which is to enhance the water quality of the water resources within the watersheds through public information and education, analysis of the causes of harmful impacts on the water resources, regulation of the use of water bodies and their beds, regulation of land use, and capital improvement projects; and WHEREAS, his leadership and expertise have been greatly appreciated by the Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Watershed Management Commissions; and WHEREAS, his public service and civic effort for the betterment of the community merit the gratitude of the citizens of Brooklyn Center; and WHEREAS, it is highly appropriate that his service to the community should be recognized and expressed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, that Abiy Assefa is hereby recognized and appreciated by the City of Brooklyn Center, and this resolution serves as a visible and lasting expression of gratitude for the leadership and service he has rendered to the citizens of Brooklyn Center.
