adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2012-131
RESOLUTION REJECTING BIDS, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 2012-10,
EARLE BROWN AND OPPORTUNITY AREA STREET LIGHTING
REPLACEMENT
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for Improvement Project No.
2012-10, bids were received, opened, and tabulated by the City Engineer on the 1 st day of October,
2012. Said bids were as follows:
BIDDER TOTAL
Eagan Company $ 358,704.00
Killmer Electric $ 364,614.00
Forest Lake Contracting $ 381,075.00
MP Nexlevel LLC $ 417,322.38
Engineer's Estimate $ 309,130.00
WHEREAS, the lowest bid exceeds the City budget amount,which is$232,000;and
WHEREAS, the City desires to reduce the project cost and can potentially accomplish
this by revising the scope and plans for the project from a total system upgrade to a less significant
light P ole and luminaire replacement while accomplishing the original project improvement ment
goals,
then re-advertise is and rebid the ect.J

NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota,that:
1. The construction contract bids for Improvement Project No. 2012-10; Earle
Brown and Opportunity Area Street Lighting Replacement bids are hereby
rejected. The City Clerk shall return all bid securities provided to the City in
response to the solicitation of bids for said improvement project.
2. City staff shall proceed to revise the scope and plans of the improvement
project and re-advertise to solicit bids for Improvement Project No. 2012-10.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Lin Myszkowski
and upon vote being taken thereon,the following voted in favor thereof:
Tim Willson, Carol Kleven, Kay lasman, Lin Myszkowski; and Dan Ryan;
and the following voted against the same: none;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
