The school district's actual referendum revenue for any year shall not exceed the statutory maximum for that year. The proposed referendum revenue authorization would increase each year by the rate of inflation and be applicable for five years unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law. The proposed capital project levy authorization will raise approximately $5,000,000 for taxes payable in 2013, the first year it is to be levied, and would be authorized for ten years. The estimated total cost of the projects to be funded over that time period is approximately$50,000,000. The money raised by the capital project levy authorization will be used to cover the following costs: purchase and installation of classroom technology equipment to improve teaching and learning; purchase of curriculum materials in areas such as science, math, music and career and technical education; training for staff in effective use of educational technology; and maintenance of a reliable technology infrastructure. The projects to be funded have received a positive review and comment from the Commissioner of Education.
