its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2012-139
RESOLUTION REGARDING CANVASS OF NOVEMBER 6, 2012, MUNICIPAL
GENERAL ELECTION AND SPECIAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the City Council has met for the purpose of canvassing the election returns
of the municipal general election for the office of Council Member;and
WHEREAS, the City Council has met for the purpose,of canvassing the election returns
of a special election called pursuant to Resolution No. 2012-108, adopted by the City Council on
August 13, 2012, for the purpose of submitting to the electors the question of changing the form of
government to a ward system for the election of City Council Members.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn
Center that it is hereby determined by official canvass that Lin Myszkowski and Kris Lawrence-Anderson
received the highest number of votes in the November 6, 2012, general election and are declared to be the
successful candidates for the office of Council Member of the City of Brooklyn Center.
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that the votes cast
at said special election for the following question were as follows:
SHALL THE BROOKLYN CENTER CITY CHARTER AMENDMENT BE
ADOPTED CHANGING THE FORM OF CITY GOVERNMENT TO A WARD
SYSTEM FOR THE ELECTION OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS?
YES 2,978
NO 8,152
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brooklyn Center that
the question submitted was not approved in the affirmative by more than 51% of the qualified voters of
the City voting at such election and was duly defeated by said voters.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Dan Ryan
and upon vote being taken thereon,the following voted in favor thereof:
Tim Willson, Carol Kleven, Kay Lasman, Lin Myszkowski, and Dan Ryan;
and the following voted against the same: none;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
