Wallace Bernards, Jeff & Lani Delzer, Keith Lester, city manager Curt Boganey, Kristi Commers, Dr. Duane Orn, Phil Cohen, and Sue LaCrosse.
Call to order 5:00 p.m.
Jeff
suggested we get Highway patrol vehicles. There is a paratrooper in the works – needs FAA approval. A highway patrol helicopter will come out on June 25 but we can’t promote.
Funding
– American Legion has committed to being a major donor. They are committed to $5,000. Keith asked Jeff to make connections to find out if they would be willing to donate to support
the fly overs or the paratrooper.
The committee reviewed the folders. Committee member reported on whom they approached and if they gave a pledge. Then, other committee members know
not to go to that business.
The City council approved the name change from Central Park to Centennial Park and approved the site for the amphitheater.
It was suggested the Historical
Society be invited to a meeting.
We need a couple people to work with the park & rec commission and the architect on the design. Dr.Orn, Keith and Robert would like to serve. What
would someone have to donate to have naming rights?
Curt said that since the plan is to donate through donations and if a donor comes forward with a contribution of $50,000 and wants
to have naming rights, it would not be out of the question. Robert Marvin has already contacted some of his suppliers and has a supplier contributing concrete.
The Amphitheater should
be designed to minimize the maintenance.
Gary Sibben, Shrine Center reported they have 50 units and clubs and many are parade worthy. Many of them have been in the EBD parade. Zuhrah
Patrol has been around since 1991. Many of their members live and work near BC. He said they can bring bands that can play concerts or motorized vehicles and go carts for the parade.
Their purpose is to sponsor Shriner’s Hospitals for children. They have 23 hospitals around the world. He said he can encourage a number of members to come in and participate. There
are expenses on their part. They are a volunteer organization. Most of the money they make goes toward the hospitals. Next year he will be chairman of the board. If they bring horses,
the out of pocket cost is $1,000.
Jeff, Keith, Curt & Gary Sibben will sit down and meet. Next year in September the VFW is having a National convention in town.
Keith Lester reported
on the Cling costs.
Keith is going to pledge $1,000 - $500 this year and $500 next year.
Curt will contribute $200 toward the big band to perform.
The BCBA has a check from money they collected during
a silent auction event.
Meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
