Centennial Celebration
Meeting Notes
April 13, 2011
Keith Lester called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Councilmember Dan Ryan, Wallace Bernards, Dr. Duane Orn, Brett Hildreth, Margaret
Sandberg, Jeff Delzer, Lani Delzer, Phil Cohen, Brent Haugen, Carolynn Darling, and Sue
LaCrosse.
Anniversary Event
The Brooklyn Center High School retires will contact all former staff and will draft a letter
inviting them to the events. They will have a committee meeting. Councilmember Dan Ryan
will attend. Two classes have booked rooms at the Embassy. Margaret Sandberg asked if
homecoming queens from the previous years will be invited. Wallace Bernards said he will
check on that. Jeff Delzer said AARP would put that event on their website.
Amphitheater
Dr. Duane Orn reported that Myrna Kauth will contact someone who may contribute a roof with
a value of $25,000. He said Robert Marvin is still in contact for the concrete block. Phil Cohen
and Dr. Duane Orn met with Curt Johnson. Chevrolet is also celebrating 100 this year. They
met with Jerry Pedlar and tomorrow they will meet with the Legion. Phil Cohen suggested
expanding the committee to include Mayor Tim Willson, Tom Shinnick and Earl Simons.
Dr. Duane Orn said Janis suggested using the area around the flags as the Memorial Plaza. Jeff
Delzer suggested contacting the Minnesota Highway Patrol.
Vintage Wedding Dress Show
Margaret Sandberg said she will need 200 programs, and three large posters. She said
Malmborg’s is coming on Saturday. She will have flyers at Earth Fest. She has 77 models and
two escorts.
Other
Brent Haugen showed the committee our complimentary ad in the Destination Guide. He said he
will try to get some information about the Centennial in the next Topline Federal Credit Union
newsletter.
Next Meeting
The next meeting is Wednesday, April 27 at 5:00 p.m.
