Centennial Celebration
Meeting Notes
September 14, 2011
Keith Lester called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Keith Lester, Sharon Kephart, Phil Cohen, Brent Haugen, Dave Looby, Brett Hildreth,
Wallace Bernards, Councilmember Kay Lasman, Dr. Duane Orn, and Sue LaCrosse.
Student Program Honoring the Police/Fire
Keith Lester reported that the student program honoring the police and fire didn’t get off the
ground. It was too difficult at the start of the school year to do this.
Amphitheater Update
Dr. Duane Orn reported they have talked to principal donors. They have received a pledge of
$10,000 from North Memorial and a pledge of $2,500 from Kennedy & Graven. They talked to
the Luther Chevrolet people at their open house celebration. We have sold a couple of bricks.
Dr. Duane Orn said he did a segment for Channel 12 on the bricks. Keith Lester suggested
promoting them as a memorial.

50 Anniversary
Keith Lester said the Crowne Plaza event is scheduled for Friday, October 7. The cost is
$10/person, which includes appetizers and a program. Saturday activities will include tours with
former staff members, football game, and maybe a pig roast. During the game, former football
players and cheerleaders will be honored. On Sunday there will be a Lions Pancake Breakfast
and a program in the auditorium. Wallace Bernards said it is difficult to determine how much
food to order for the Crowne Plaza event because they don’t know how many will attend.
Budget
Sue LaCrosse reported our upcoming expenses. After these expenses, we should have about
$500-600 left. Keith Lester said that could be used toward the Amphitheater.

*Curt Boganey will add an additional $200 for the Capri Big Band.
Holly Sunday
Sue LaCrosse reported she met with a lighting company. The cost would be $4,000 plus tax. It
should be very impressive. The lights will be ours. We may get more than one year out of them.
The committee approved this expenditure.
Councilmember Kay Lasman reported the Time Capsule plaque will be changed. The cost is
estimated high at $500. The committee will need to decide what they want on the plaque to get
an exact cost. She said she met with Sue LaCrosse and they went through all of the items. There
will be little table tents made for the items and we will have a program.
Next Meeting
The next meeting is Wednesday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. An updated photo will be taken of the
committee for the time capsule.

There was a motion by Wallace Bernards, seconded by Sharon Kephart to adjourn the meeting.
