HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 02-08 CCCM Centennial Celebration Meeting Notes February 8, 2012 Sue LaCrosse called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. Present: Sharon Kephart, Phil Cohen, Brett Hildreth, Dan Jordet, Councilmember Kay Lasman, City Manager Curt Boganey, Warren Olson, Councilmember Dan Ryan, Sue Low, Dr. Duane Orn and Sue LaCrosse. Finance Director Report Finance Director, Dan Jordet reviewed the finance report pertaining to the Centennial revenue and expenditures. There was a motion by Dr. Duane Orn, seconded by Councilmember Kay Lasman to transfer the remaining $1,653.23 to the Amphitheater. Motion carried with Brett Hildreth abstaining from voting. There was a motion by Councilmember Dan Ryan, seconded by Sharon Kephart to approve the budget report. Motion carried. Dr. Duane Orn said the committee has been communicating to donors that they will get their money back if the Amphitheater does not get built. City Manager, Curt Boganey said one of the work session items on Monday’s agenda is to discuss the forming of an Amphitheater Fundraising Committee. Councilmembers Kay Lasman and Dan Ryan said they will make sure this is part of the discussion and the funds be set aside for only this project. Councilmember Kay Lasman said she would like to make sure that future councils know the expectations. City Manager, Curt Boganey asked if the committee needed more members. Phil Cohen said we do not need any more committee members. He added that sometimes these committees can get too large and it adds to the length of meetings. The committee thanked Dan Jordet for keeping the financial records. Photo Contest Sharon Kephart reported the contest was successful with most entries submitted by adults. She would like to talk to the Earle Brown Days Committee about taking this on as an annual event starting next year. The contest winners were highlighted in the City Watch. Time Capsule Councilmember Kay Lasman was disappointed in the attendance. She highlighted some of the items in the time capsule and said it is a nice representation of the year we are leaving. The plaque designating when it should be opened is nice. Holly Weekend City Manager, Curt Boganey said the Capri Big Band enjoyed playing at the school. They were a little disappointed in the attendance. The committee received a lot of positive feedback from those attending. Sue LaCrosse said Holly Sunday was well attended. We had more people than ever. 1 Amphitheater Update Dr. Duane Orn reported we have almost raised $130,000 with donations, pavers and in-kind contributions. Merchandise Sue LaCrosse said we have some polo and sweatshirts leftover. We also have the resolution/proclamation document sets. City Manager, Curt Boganey said we could sell them at a reduced price at the Golf Course or Community Center. Dr. Duane Orn said he will purchase the remaining merchandise. The committee decided to donate one set of the documents to the Brooklyn Historical Society. Sue LaCrosse will figure out the cost for Dr. Duane Orn. Dissolution There was a motion by Dr. Duane Orn, seconded by Councilmember Kay Lasman to dissolve the Centennial Celebration Committee and transfer the remaining funds from Bremer Bank to the City’s account dedicated to the building of the Amphitheater only.
