HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 04-06 AFM Amphitheater Fundraising Committee Meeting Notes April 6, 2011 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Brett Hildreth, Phil Cohen, Teresa Schutz, Myrna Kragness-Kauth and Sue LaCrosse. The committee brainstormed for additional subcommittee members. Suggested people included Brent Haugen, Earl Simons, Sharon Kephart, Mayor Willson, Paul Engelman and Tom Shinnick. Dr. Orn asked Sue LaCrosse to provide a financial report with a thermometer on it for future meetings. Phil Cohen and Dr. Duane Orn met with Curt Johnson of Luther Chevrolet. Phil Cohen said Curt Johnson has a process he is going to go through and they will meet again. Phil Cohen and Dr. Duane Orn have a meeting next Wednesday with Jerry Pedlar of North Memorial and Thursday night Phil Cohen and Myrna Kragness-Kauth will meet with the Legion. Phil Cohen has talked to Jeff Carson and he will contact BrookPark Dental, Charlie LeFevere, and Tom Weber. Myrna Kragness-Kauth will contact Roger Sit and someone with the FBI. Sue Low, Dr. Duane Orn and Phil Cohen will attend a future council meeting when the contacts from Gatlin are back in town. Dr. Duane Orn asked that the Amphitheater design, the park drawing, a donor sheet and a small picture of the Amphitheater be copied for the packet. Phil Cohen asked if the sheet with the drawing of the Amphitheater on the park photo could be done better. Sue LaCrosse will ask Janis Blumentals. Dr. Duane Orn will contact Keith Lester to let him know this committee will be responsible for fundraising only for the Amphitheater. Dr. Duane Orn asked if we could meet every two weeks. The agenda for the next meeting will include discussing what recognition donors will receive. Sue Low arrived at the meeting. Dr. Duane Orn would like to have a sign made that would say, “Future Site of the Centennial Memorial Amphitheater”. He would also like to have stakes and tape put up around the area of where the Amphitheater would be. Sue LaCrosse will check with Vickie Schleuning on the sign and Jim Glasoe for the stakes and tape to see if this is possible. Teresa Schutz will check with FastSigns. Dr. Duane Orn said he spoke with Mark Allen and Mark told him the BCBA may be interested in helping with fundraising for the Amphitheater. Teresa Schutz said it would require a specific fundraising effort. She said they are planning for the annual golf event and may promote the 1 fundraiser in conjunction with the Amphitheater. Any additional fund would have to be approved by the board. Teresa Schutz explained how the social media sites work and how it might benefit the fundraising efforts of the Amphitheater. She said it would need its own site. Dr. Orn asked who might have the capacity to keep up these sites. There was a motion by Brett Hildreth, seconded by Myrna Kragness-Kauth to table the media campaign to the next meeting. Motion carried. Next Meeting The next meeting is Wednesday, April 20 at 5:00 p.m. There was a motion by Myrna Kragness-Kauth, seconded by Teresa Schutz to adjourn the meeting.
