HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 08-17 AFM Amphitheater Fundraising Committee Meeting Notes August 17, 2011 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Phil Cohen, Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth, Sharon Kephart, Sue Low, Brett Hildreth and Sue LaCrosse. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the minutes of August 3, 2011. Motion carried. Financial Report: Sue LaCrosse said she has added the current date and brick sales to the budget report. As of today, we have not received any brick purchases. Earl Simons reported on an article from the newspaper about a Woodbury group trying to pay for a veteran’s memorial. They are in debt to the City of Woodbury and have been trying to raise the money and sell the pavers since 2008. OLD BUSINESS esign of Location: DDr. Duane Orn said he spoke to Janis. He said there have been no changes on the design or the location. Thank you letters: Thank you letters to Joe Boston and Jerry Pedlar were mailed. Brick Sale Forms: Phil Cohen would like to see the front of the sale form reflect where the bricks will be located. Sue Low will have her staff take a look at it and see if she can update the Publisher document before Saturday. NEW BUSINESS Knights of Columbus: The meeting with the Knights will be held on September 1 or 7. Myrna Kauth has left numerous messages with the Grand Knight and he hasn’t returned her calls. Brick Thank You Letter: The committee has approved the thank you letter. Luther Update: Phil Cohen said there is a balloon on site, which recognizes the Brooklyn Center Centennial and Chevrolet’s 100 years. He said people from Detroit will be visiting on August 20 recognizing Luther for their involvement with the community and dealership. The Mayor will be making a presentation. It opens at 10:00 a.m. with the program at 1:00 p.m. Deductibility: Sue LaCrosse thanked Phil Cohen for getting the information from Jeff Carson’s office. The entire $250 is deductible. 1 Personalized Name Plates: Dr. Orn distributed language Phil Cohen found from the State for license plates. Sue LaCrosse said the City Manager would prefer we keep it simple. The phrase he suggested is on the flyer. The committee decided to go with that. Press Release: Phil Cohen suggested we get a bunch of people who have bought bricks together for a photo and press release. The committee members could bring their bricks and then the people who purchased them could hold those up for the picture. This item is tabled to a future meeting. Next Meeting: The next meeting is Wednesday, September 14 at 6:15/6:30 p.m. following the regular Centennial meeting.
