HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 05-04 AFM Amphitheater Fundraising Committee Meeting Notes May 4, 2011 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Brett Hildreth, Phil Cohen, Jeff Delzer, and Sue LaCrosse. Dr. Duane Orn reported the design team had a meeting on May 4 and it has been changed slightly to make it look more balanced. Janis Blumentals will add dimensions to the drawing to make it easier to understand. Janis Blumentals recommends the 4’ x 8’ paver size and that we sell them for $250 each. The cost for 576 pavers is $25,920 and with contributions, we could net $103,000. They will be made of Green recycled materials. Janis Blumentals and Dr. Orn plan to visit Viking Trophy for ideas for memorial panels. Phil Cohen said he has made a draft of memorial priorities or what could be included on the panels, for example the civic organizations – Lions, Rotary, and Jaycees; Veterans – VFW and Legion; City – police, fire; corporate businesses; and corporate business organizations – BCBA, chambers. It was decided that there must be a donation in order to be on the wall. The amounts are yet to be determined. Dr. Duane Orn said they found out there are utility lines that run under the proposed Amphitheater area. It will probably be set back and will make for better access. Dr. Duane Orn reported that Janis Blumentals will provide him with a list of materials that we could go out and ask for. Some of the materials would need to be bid out together. The color of the paver will be a gray tone. The walls may have an anti-graffiti coating. Do we want to look into organizing a committee called the Friends of the Amphitheater? Phil Cohen said he will contact the Lions Club and Luther Auto again. He will contact Viking Trophy to see if they have some ideas for the memorials before going out to see them. He will also contact someone from Gatlin and BrookPark Dental. He has two other contacts too. Brett Hildreth and Dr. Duane Orn will meet with Ernee McArthur and Joe Lampi. Sue LaCrosse reported the municipal liquor store manager said he is going to enter a contest with Budweiser in which if he wins, there will be an award of money to go to the Amphitheater. Next Meeting The next meeting is Wednesday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Sue LaCrosse Program Supervisor 1
