HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011 09-14 AFM Amphitheater Fundraising Committee Meeting Notes September 14, 2011 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Phil Cohen, Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth, Sharon Kephart, Sue Low, Brett Hildreth and Sue LaCrosse. There was a motion by Sharon Kephart, seconded by Brett Hildreth to approve the minutes of August 17, 2011. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Contributions: Dr. Duane Orn reported they have received a pledge of $10,000 from North Memorial. They have already contributed $5,000 of that pledge. 501C3: Brett Hildreth asked if anything more was done for the 501C3. Phil Cohen said it is a very cumbersome process. Any donation to a government agency is tax deductible. It is a laborious process to keep the records, have board meetings and be subject to audit. He said no one came forward wanting to do this. NEW BUSINESS Update on Luther: Dr. Duane Orn and Phil Cohen reported on the Luther Chevrolet Open House. Chevrolet recognized three dealers that weekend and the Brooklyn Center one blew the others awy. They really appreciated the turnout. They sold a lot of cars. They were very pleased with the recognition given by the City Council. The Mayor did a tremendous job. They will be setting up a meeting with Linda McGinty. Donation Update: We have received a letter of commitment from Charlie LeFevere of $2,500 to be paid over two years in $1,250 increments. Fundraising: Sue LaCrosse said that Jeff Delzer called and he can get free Lloyds Ribs and probably potatoes, etc. She said he suggested this could be a fundraiser. It was felt that the only group qualified to do this would be the Lions Club. Earl Simons said they have four food fundraising events coming up in the next few months. He will present this idea at the Lions Club meeting. He will report back at our next meeting. Guess A Brick: Dr. Duane Orn said there is no venue to do this right now. The item will be moved to old business. Plaque: There was discussion on what level of donation would constitute putting the names on the wall plaque. Sue Low suggested donations of $500 or more. And that people who have already donated less than $500 could maybe be called to see if they want to transfer their 1 money to a brick. Phil Cohen volunteered to draft a recognition proposal for the plaque on the wall. Next Meeting: The next meeting is Wednesday, October 5 at 5:00 p.m. Adjourn: There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Sharon Kephart to adjourn the meeting. Respectfully Submitted, Sue LaCrosse Program Supervisor 2
