HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012 07-25 AFMAmphitheater Fundraising Committee Meeting Notes July 25, 2012 Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth, Keith Lester, Sharon Kephart, and Sue LaCrosse. Minutes: There was a motion by Earl Simons, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the minutes of July 11, 2012. Motion carried. Financial Report: Sue LaCrosse reported we have received a donation from Minneapolis Northwest. There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Sharon Kephart to approve the financial report. Motion carried. Earl Simons would like a copy of the thank you letter that went to the Lions Club. Sharon Kephart would like to see a copy of the thank you letter. OLD BUSINESS Luther Update: Dr. Duane Orn said Phil Cohen is working on revising a letter looping into the veterans and military. The letter is currently in the process of being edited. Sharon suggested we give them a copy of the plaque rendition. BCBA: Dr. Duane Orn and Sharon Kephart attended the BCBA meeting. Dr. Duane Orn got Mike Sims business card. He plans to contact him. Evans-Nordby: Dr . Duane Orn, Phil Cohen and Myrna Kauth have a tentative meeting date set for August 3. Dr. Duane Orn would like to get the brick pave forms to them. Brookdale Health: Dr. Duane Orn will meet with Dr. Kent Erickson. He said Dr. Erickson is very interested in discussing the Amphitheater project. NEW BUSINESS Legacy Grant: Sue LaCrosse said she talked with someone at the State. The current round of grant funding is for outstate counties only. There will be another round of funding the beginning of next year. However, there is only $400,000 or less available for funding projects. She said the person she talked to said there may be a funding maximum allotted of $25,000 or $50,000 per project. Sue LaCrosse said that in the materials she read, there was a date listed as to when the project had to be completed. Sue LaCrosse will check out the guidelines in December. Keith Lester suggested checking into LISC, a community development non-profit. Walmart: Dr. Duane Orn and Phil Cohen met with the new store manager. The manager said he could donate $2,000-3,000 from the store. He said he would forward the information to corporate to see if more money could be donated. Dr. Duane Orn reported the store manager has sent him a follow up email stating that he has forward this to corporate. The store manager said he would contact him sometime next week. Update From Leonard Jacobson: Dr. Duane Orn was not able to reach him for an update. Keith Lester suggested we have an end date for fundraising. He said sometimes companies like to be the one to push you over the top. Dr. Duane Orn said Councilmember Carol Kleven recommended we hold a raffle. This item was tabled for the August 8 meeting. Meeting schedule: August 8 and August 22. Adjourn: There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Sharon Kephart to adjourn the meeting.
