Amphitheater Fundraising Committee
Meeting Notes
May 16, 2012
Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Earl Simons, Myrna Kauth, Brett Hildreth, Phil Cohen and Sue
LaCrosse.
Minutes:
There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the
minutes of May 2, 2012. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Sue LaCrosse reported we have $131,380. There were four more brick
sales.
OLD BUSINESS
US Bank:
Dr. Duane Orn reported US Bank will donate $2,000. They have requested an
invoice.
Luther Update:
Phil Cohen said there will be an appreciation by Detroit on May 7. He has
talked to the general manager and will contact Linda McGinty again.
Thank You Letters:
Earl Simons has contact names for some of the other businesses associated
with Shingle Creek Crossing and will get the rest.
Metal Roof Donation:
Dr. Duane Orn said he is still positive about the metal roof
donation. He is waiting for Leonard Jacobsson to call with the National contact.
Cement Block:
Dr. Duane Orn said Robert Marvin will donate $5,000 and asked Sue
LaCrosse to resend the letter to him and a copy of the letter of intent received from Janis.
Target Corporation:
Brett Hildreth said he will not be able to attend every meeting but
in a month would have contacted someone at Target. He reported the BCBA will have a guest
speaker by the name of Al Garber. He said he is connected in this area and a very interesting
person.
Myrna Kauth reported Mound Cemetery will have a program beginning at 11:00 a.m. on
Memorial Day.
Legacy Funds:
Phil Cohen will contact Chris Eaton to see if it is possible for the criteria
to be changed.
Lang Nelson:
Earl Simons said he won’t have anything until June.
Evans-Nordby:
Phil Cohen said they have a tentative meeting on Tuesday, May 22.
Brookdale Health:
Dr. Duane Orn will talk to them on June 6.

Medtronic Foundation:
Dr. Duane Orn and Earl Simons met with Diane Sannes.
BCHS:
Jodi Rossi and Keith Lester are on board to work with us. The approach would be
to send alumni a letter making a request for them to purchase a brick in honor of their school or
family.
Minnesota Orchestra:
No report.
Comcast Foundation:
Dr. Duane Orn will talk to Greg Moore tomorrow.
NEW BUSINESS
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Brett Hildreth to recommend to the City
Manager that Keith Lester be appointed to the Amphitheater Task Force as a regular member.
Motion carried.
Dr. Orn has a contact for the RBC Foundation and the Thrivant Lutheran Foundation.
Other contacts may include Eldon Tessman and John Wingard. Phil Cohen reported Jim
Soderberg, who developed Melrose Gates and Gary Brummer, Gateway Commons, are
interested in giving tours.
Paul Hyde is redeveloping the old Lifetime Fitness site.
Brick Paver placement will be discussed at the next meeting.
Next meeting is June 6.
Adjourn:
There was a motion by Earl Simons, seconded by Brett Hildreth to adjourn the
meeting. The meeting was adjourned.
