Amphitheater Fundraising Task Force
Meeting Notes
October 24, 2012
Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Phil Cohen, Sharon Kephart, Earl Simons, Keith Lester, Myrna Kauth,
Sue Low and Sue LaCrosse.
Minutes:
There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Keith Lester to approve the
minutes of October 10, 2012. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
There was a motion by Keith Lester, seconded by Sharon Kephart to
accept the financial report. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Luther Update:
No report.
Evans Nordby:
Phil Cohen will email him tomorrow.
Leonard Jacobson:
Myrna Kauth will try to reach him tomorrow. We are waiting for a letter
of intent.
NEW BUSINESS
Walmart:
Letters of congratulations were sent. Dr. Duane Orn will call David Heber to set
up a meeting. He asked Sharon Kephart to contact Mike Simms to set up another meeting.
Target:
Earl Simons hasn’t heard back from Target. He sent them an email with the
information they requested. He gave them Dr. Orn’s contact information.
Surley Brewery:
We received a check from Surley for $500. Myrna Kauth said they may
consider making another donation next year.
Mark Allen:
Earl Simons has not contacted him yet.
Thomas Hektner of Denali Medical:
Dr. Duane Orn reported he is the person who wants
to be the official photographer. Thomas Hektner told Dr. Duane Orn they will contribute.
Joe Lampi/Ernee McArthur:
There was a meeting with Joe Lampi and Ernee McArthur.
They went to visit Marion Engdahl.
Caribou Coffee:
Sharon Kephart is investigating how to go about contacting someone.
Minnesota Grants Makers online:
Keith Lester shared information about Minnesota Grants
Makers.

Sympathy Card:
Earl Simons presented a sympathy card that the Lions Club uses. There
was a motion by Keith Lester, seconded by Sharon Kephart to table the memorial card. Motion
carried.
Paver Display:
Sue Low brought in the final paver display sample. There was a motion
by Sharon Kephart, seconded by Myrna Kauth to approve the display. The businesses that may
be contacted for the display are Channel 12, Brookdale Health, North Memorial – Brooklyn
Center, Evans-Nordby, Park Nicollet, and UPS.
Scherer Bros & Howe:
Phil Cohen will look up the Scherer Foundation.
General Mills was suggested as another contact.
Other:
No one saw the Sun Post article.
Earl Simons said we were running into expenses. Sue LaCrosse said the Centennial Committee
stated the money left over from the celebration be given to the City for the Amphitheater but
none be spent on operating expenses. The Council passed a resolution stating this.

Adjourn:
There was a motion by Sharon Kephart, seconded by Myrna Kauth to adjourn the
meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
