Amphitheater Fundraising Task Force
Meeting Notes
September 12, 2012
Dr. Duane Orn called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Present: Dr. Duane Orn, Phil Cohen, Myrna Kauth, Sharon Kephart, Earl Simons and Sue
LaCrosse.
Minutes:
There was a motion by Earl Simons, seconded by Sharon Kephart to approve the
minutes of August 22, 2012. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Sue LaCrosse reported we received an additional donation of $100 from
the BC Lioness Club and the BC Women’s Club purchased a brick. There was a motion by
Myrna Kauth, seconded by Earl Simons to accept the financial report. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Folder:
The folders were given to Frank Gatlin and Mike Sims. Sue LaCrosse said we
can update the information as needed.
Luther Update:
No additional information is available for Luther.
Evans Nordby:
The meeting at Evans-Nordby was canceled because of a funeral.
Brookdale Health:
A meeting is set for September 19 at 11:30 a.m.
Leonard Jacobson:
Myrna Kauth will talk to him and request a letter of intent.
Target:
Earl Simons left a folder with the assistant manager. He was given a charitable
request form from the local store. Earl Simons will fill out the form and follow up with Target.
He will set up a meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Walmart:
Dr. Duane Orn sent a thank you letter along with Jim Glasoe’s letter on Friday so
that they would receive it prior to the opening. The grand opening of Walmart was well
attended. Dr. Duane Orn will follow up with a letter. Phil Cohen asked if Jim Glasoe’s letter
could be revised to include what the Showmobile was used for and what things could be held in
the Amphitheater.
Surley:
Earl Simons will go over and set up a meeting.
Apartment Complexes:
Phil Cohen thinks we should pursue Melrose Gates and Gateway
Commons apartment complexes.
The Crossings:
Earl Simons said he talked to Don Poss about doing a presentation at The
Crossings. Don Poss told him they would be wasting time because most of the people who live
there did not come from Brooklyn Center. Earl Simons will still pursue Lang-Nelson. Myrna

Kauth suggested the Towers. She will check with them to see if we can do a presentation on the
bricks.
Phil Cohen would like something added to the newspaper article. Myrna Kauth and Phil Cohen
will write something and email to Sue LaCrosse for editing and adding to the article.

Adjourn:
There was a motion by Myrna Kauth, seconded by Earl Simons to adjourn the
meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
