Planning Commission of the City of

August 19, 1971
The Planning Commission met in study session and was called
to order by Chairman Robert Jensen at 7:30 P.M.
Roll Call: Chairman Robert Jensen, Commissioners Karl
Schuller, Robert Grosshans and Paul Ditter. Staff members present
were: Tom Loucks and James Merila.
Motion was made by Commissioner Ditter and seconded by
Commissioner Schuller to approve the minutes of August 5, 1971,
as submitted. The motion carried unanimously.
Following the Chairman's explanation, the first item of
business was Planning Commission Application No. 71030 submitted
by F. Nendza requesting a special use permit.
The item was introduced by Mr. Loucks who indicated the
applicant is requesting a special use permit for a special home
occupation consisting of the sale of imported tapestry on a property
located at 5144 Drew Avenue North. It was noted that the operation
would consist of taking telephone orders with limited on-premises
direct sales and that the product would not be stored but mailed
directly from the manufacturer to the customer.
Following a brief discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner
Grosshans and seconded by Commissioner Ditter to recommend to the
City Council approval of the special use permit for the sale of
imported tapestry, and further, that the permit shall be reviewed
on an annual basis commencing January 1, 1973. Motion carried
unanimously.
The next item of business was Planning Commission Application
No. 71033 submitted by Iten Chevrolet requesting site and building
plan approval.
The item was introduced by Mr. Loucks who indicated that the
applicant is requesting site and building plan approval for a two
story, 3,800 square foot addition to the existing building located
at 6701 Brooklyn Boulevard, which would replace a mobile home
trailer that is now being utilized as a truck sales office on the
premises.
Commissioner Bogucki and Commissioner Foreman arrived at
7%50 P.M.
Following a brief discussion, a motion was made by
Commissioner Ditter and seconded by Commissioner Grosshans to
recommend to the City Council approval of Planning Commission Appli-
cation No. 71033 subject to the following conditions:
1. Utility, drainage and elevation plans are subject
to the approval of the City Engineer prior to the
issuance of a building permit;

2. Building plans are subject to the approval of
the Building Inspector with respect to applicable
building codes;
3. A performance agreemc^t and performance bond (in
an amount to be deter:nine:3 by the City Manager)
shall be submitted to the City to guarantee site
improvements as designated on the plans submitted.
The motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Commissioner Bogucki and seconded by
Commissioner Foreman to adjourn the Planning Commission meeting
and conduct a tour of the Civic Center facilities for the Brooklyn
Park Planning Commission members and staff. Motion carried
unanimously. The Planning Commission adjourned at £3:10 P.M.
