PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 2 RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 34 AND 35 RELATIVE TO THE DEFINITION OF FAMILY WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the Ordinance provisions for permitted uses in the residential districts, in- cluding applicable definitions; and, WHEREAS, the Commission recognizes current housing trends involving groups or unrelated persons and particularly of such persons involved in supervised rehabilitative programs; and, WHEREAS, the Commission perceives the need for clarification and refinement of the term "family" as an effective land use control; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Brooklyn Center Planning Commission that: The Commission recommends to the City Council the consideration and adoption of the following Ordinance Amendment: 1. A person or persons related by blood, marriage or adoption, together with is or their domestic servants or gratuitous guests, maintaining a common household in a dwelling unit. 2. Group of foster care of not more than five (5) wards or clients by an authorized person or persons related by blood, marriage or adoption together with his or their domestic servants or gratuitous guests, all maintaining a common household in a dwelling unit approved and certified by the appropriate public agency. 3. A group of not more than five (5) persons not related by blood, marriage or adoption maintaining a common household in a dwelling unit. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Cecilia Scott. And upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Commissioners Grossh.ans, Foreman, Scott, Horan and Pierce. And the following voted against the same: None.
